I was on street tires and it had to be my worst track visit ever. Combination of my first time in an irs car, my shifter not going into 3rd or 4th, and spinning and wheel hopping. Thankfully I kept my MGW shifter from my 14. Next is irs bushings and a braided and sleeved clutch line. My first pass I managed a 2.08 and didnt spin or wheelhop, but then it would't go into 3rd or 4th. Would have been a decent pass.

Everyone I watched spun a lot unless they were on an actual slick.

15 years ago, Rockingham was my favorite track.
Today, it's not even in my top 10. I got into a discussion with someone on Face Book two weeks ago and they were telling me that Rockingham had changed and the track prep was better now.

To be completely fair, I did see them spraying VHT down and could plainly hear it as cars rolled up to stage. But I spun hard into 2nd and saw quite a few other cars on street tires do the same. It's probably stupid to expect a regular street tire to hook at the track, but in the past I've had street tires hook on the street. You would think a track surface would at least do the same if not better. I definitely did better at Nam in my 14 GT.

Back when I actually used to do the dragstrip thing, I had results all over the map at Rockingham. One week it would hook pretty well, then another it was like trying to hook street tires on a freezing-cold highway surface. I noticed this on QTPs, street tires and drag radials, didn't seem to matter.

The only track I remember that always hooked well was Piedmont.

Too bad it's 1/85th mile. Gallot looks to be awesome, but yet another 1/8th. I'm gonna get some IRS parts to help it and see what happens. I could put a tire on, but that's real money for wheels, tires, and axles.

Since you are IRS, I would run a bias ply tire.

Sounds like you need some anti-wheel hop axles. Welcome to IRS.
