Had to order a new bellhousing, will be here today.. That means engine will slip on in for what I hope is the last time.
This carb showed up yesterday. Have not tried this brand yet. Hope it works 1/2 as good as it looks! ![]() |

Got the engine slid in this past weekend. Had to buy a new bellhousing for the T5..
Had, both cracked.. grr Went and measured for pushrod length, got a good pattern and pushrods ordered. ![]() I am starting to think I should have taken my time a bit. It's just a Pinto, far from perfect, but looking back, it does look better than it did.. ![]() ![]() |

Had to push the old Pinto out of the garage to get to my engine hoist.
Snapped a pic or two. Not sure if the front will drop any more, but kind of digging the look. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

You can definitely straddle some road kill with that thing!

Today I ground the center of the waterpump down flush with the pulley and countersunk the screws..
![]() Then notched the lower valance, so that the fan would fit ![]() Then removed a bit of material on the back side of the grille ![]() So that everything should fit ![]() With TONS of room to spare.... going to have to remove the radiator to put on fan belt.. Glad I have solid motor mounts. lol ![]() |

Yea....that's a bit tight man! Hopefully the solid mounts won't let it move forward much!

Sorry.. Lost a bunch of photos, and steps when the site here went down, but fast forward to 2 weeks ago.. Pinto moved for the first time under it's own power since 4/99
It has been off the road longer than it was on. Sorry for the bad video, there was no one home and I was not waiting. Wedged the cell phone in the tire tread of the Jeep and went on my own. Barely rolled on the throttle and instantly spun the tires. lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3H7wIGev6U |

Ok... So, Killshot.
Installed the system, programmed initial setup. all good. Start the car, screen goes black, then comes up with some weird lines. Call Aces, talk to tech, they send a new ECU and handheld right out. Install new ECU and handheld, and the exact same thing happens. Worked fine for initial program, but this time as soon as I start the car, the screen says that it lost communication with the canbus. I can hook up my laptop through same canbus, and it communicates fine, running or not. On phone with tech support for over 1.5 hrs. Everything reads what it should, voltages check out, wiring is correct. Checked in once a week later, they are waiting on info from CDI box maker.. another week goes buy, send tech a text, but this time, no reply. Going back today... Stepping up to a sequential setup... This one better work! ![]() |

Hope this one works out for you man. Sucks about the other one. I never really knew why the automotive community decided to go with CAN bus, as it is very susceptible to electrical noise. Even the industrial community uses a CAN bus a great deal, but when you have systems that have a PWM drive (linear motors, fuel injectors, etc) you'd better have a good ground system and good quality shielded cable.

Nice build Man > I see you have a GTO in the back ground. I have a few GTO parts in my attic from My 67 GTO. Long story short shoot me your number if you need some stuff. I wish I could find me another one. A guy shitted me badly on body work and screwed up a set of NOS quarters ... I was sick and that was over 17 years ago. It was the first car my mother and father bought together...

There was one running around here in Robeson Co. in the early 80's that was it's twin.
It had yellow slapper bars, 4cyl, 4 speed, a holley carb and a header. It was a runner...
