Man after I shamed you about the brake line I'm hanging my head in shame.. Got it down off the jack stands about noon yesterday and took it down the road. Something isn't right, gears are whining like crazy around 60 then making a racket when you slow down below 20.. I pulled it in the garage and haven't touched it. No excuses besides I focked up and am a slack ass.

Sorry guys, was honestly looking forward to getting out and meeting y'all.

Ha! I figured I'd bust your chops a bit! That sucks that the rear end isn't right...I'm sure you'll get it worked out. Maybe we'll see you next time.

Mine ran ok...went 7.20s@97 for 3 consecutive passes. It's still poppin and spittin' in high gear which is frustrating...but I'm having fun with it.

Bring it on man, keep my azz honest!

Would love to check your system out, still pissed I didn't make it. I'm back up on jackstands, hopefully will have it straightened out soon.

Popping in high gear sounds like plugs - not cold enough, not gapped tight enough, or not new enough! Boost kills plugs rather quickly, even if they look fine, a fresh set has solved many woes over the years on my turbo cars.

Also check your alternator; make sure that it is providing enough volts. I have seen a alternator going bad cause this on more than one occasion.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I've had 6-8 sets of plugs in this thing this year. I tried all different heat ranges, different gaps (.020-.030), projected tip (TR6), non-projected (BR7EF), new wires (MSD), both style coils (with and without heat sink), ...as well as valve springs, dwell settings (2ms - 5ms), leaner, richer, wiring, grounds, second fuel pump, letting the Microsquirt control the fuel...you name it I've tried it.

I'm going to look at the reluctor wheel next. I've heard of several people having similar issues (runs good until it gets under full load) with bad reluctor wheels (moving or too much runout)...so I'll be looking at that next. (although the MS logs loss of sync - and it's always 0)

As for alternator, It was used. But I had it tested before I put it on. I log the voltage with the MS and while I do get some fluctuation it stays within normal range over the run it usually ranges between 12.2v - 13.5v ...but mostly hangs around 12.2 - 12.5v ...so I would think that would be good.

I'm open to any other thoughts you guys might have...I'd sure like to see some 6.90's/10.90's out of this thing this year! ...and I think it's certainly doable if the breaking up gets fixed.

Bill, that truck will definitely go in the 6's with the popping issue sorted out. its hauling ass now, while acting a fool on the big end...lol

on a good note, i got my trans issue fixed!!! swapped my Jakes Performance manual control box back on the trans instead of letting the computer run it and problem solved. she launches like a raped ape now and stays locked in first. time to see if it will leave on 10+lbs on the slicks now

You have any type of noise suppression on the power feed going into the MS?

I don't. I have changed where it gets the feed from, I was using the existing ignition wiring but right now it's direct from the battery.

1FastPickup, I saw your truck from the big end and heard it spitting and popping and thought man, that guy is still chasing that gremlin. 7.20's with it breaking up that bad from around half track on is still solid, that thing is gonna run once you work the kinks out!
