Good choice. Welcome to the family! lol If you want to improve gas mileage, change the shitty shifting, and get a little more out of it without spending the cash on a dyno tune, check out the cortex superchips. It really woke up the G8.

LS1-3RDGEN better shape up!
would this still be the case with a full exhaust system? or would a tune be a better rout? the tranny does drag out the shifts i would like to firm them up a bit.

That's true, mostly cause it's a unibody and doesn't have a "frame"

You make a valid point. I missed the part about the headers and wanting to put a cat-back. Check out Vector Motorsports. They do some pretty good tuning stuff for the G8's. And have a nice OTR intake also, lol.

13.7 (I think) is the stock 1/4. With just a superchips cortex tuner they'll do 13.2.

A tune is going to be better for your (and in my opinion every) situation. You might save all of $30-40 with that Superchips.

it also has a Vararam CAI has anyone had one of these vs like the k&n Filter charger kit?

i think with the vararam the headers and the catback and a tune i should be able to run low 13s.

of course i can race a zr1 and record it with my go pro and red light it to make it look like i took it off the line and post it on here....

True, but since I still have a warranty I like the ability to go back to the stock tune. And with the changing of gas prices, if money gets a little tighter than I like, I can switch back to an 87 tune rather than the 93 I usually have.

There's plenty of guys on the G8 boards that run mid 12.7's with that set up. The tune alone has proven over and over to knock a stock car down .5 seconds.

As far as the Vararam, I'm a big fan, lol. You can't see much of a difference on a dyno, but it really shines when you get up to speed.
