Ran into a slight problem last night. Brake seem to be a little too big for the rim and the spindle. (Wilwood Integra 6R) I'm currently looking into other options, like Viper Brake calipers, different uprights, etc. I'll try and post up as I get along a little further on this. Everyone that knows me (from way back) knows that I don't need to skimp on BRAKES.

Ordered my dry sump pump yesterday, should be here either Friday or Monday. It's a 4 stage unit, 3 scavenge and 1 pressure. I've had this tank for a while now, but I think I'm going to sell it and try and get a 3 gallon. This one holds (*I think) 4.5 or 5 gallons. I've got enough fittings, line and what not to plumb it all up, all except for the filters that go on the lines in the pan.

Material should be here on Friday for the intake and oil pan fabrication. I still need to make the die mold for the runners, but I'll get there eventually. I think (if the material comes in like it should) I'm going to concentrate on the oil pan, pump mounts and what not this weekend. If I get more done than I thought, then I'll start making injector bungs and the intake plenum.

Those Wilwood calipers usually require a 17" wheel, most of the other big brake calipers require an 18"..............

one option might be to use a different (smaller) caliper on the rears which would still allow you to use a 15" wheel and tire out back, then put the larger calipers and rotors on the front/

I've got some 4 piston calipers for the rear that clear quite nicely. I thought about either using a Viper caliper up front and selling these, or maybe trying to figure out something a little different up front (move the 4P calipers up front and get something like a 2P for the rear). These calipers were behind a 15 inch wheel before - but the offset and uprights (spindles) were a little larger. There's guys using this front suspension and existing uprights with Viper calipers on 15 inch wheels too.....I just need to research it a little more.

I think that fella is on Big Block Dart.com too. I'll give him a shout later today. I don't go over to Moparts at all. Never was a huge fan of that site for some reason.

Well, as some of you know, I bought a dry sump oil pump. It was a 4 stage, 3 scavenge, 1 pressure with the correct housing/gear sizes for my application. I bought it from a used race parts dealer on E-bay. The pump was advertised as "functioned great when taken off of the car". Considering I only paid a couple hundred for it, I fully expected to have to replace one of the housings, some gears, seals, etc for at least 1, maybe 2 stages. No problem, I'm still not shelling out the $1,000 it would take to get a new one. Riiiiiiiiight. I'll let the pics do the talking.

At first, not too horrible - this is the pressure stage.

Then we get a little deeper into the whole thing....

This is how the rear retaining ring for the main shaft looked when I pulled the inspection cover.

Some Scavenge gears

Note the keyway in the gear and the keyway in the shaft. Problem?

More scavenge gears

The pump is trash. Every stage in it needs a housing and gears + a main shaft, one of the main studs, and seals. Not so good of a deal seeing as how the only thing good on it was the seals. So, at any rate, I sent these pics along with a very nice and professional e-mail to the seller. He made it it right, he's going to take a return on it and give me a refund. Lesson learned. I'm buying a NEW pump this time around. Hello $$$$$ to Stock Car products or Barnes.

One good thing about today though - that material that I ordered for the intake and oil pan - yea, it'll be here today. It was ordered LAST MONDAY.

Made some injector bungs today and some modifications to the intake manifold plates. Now I need to find someone with a metal shear and I'll be set to make the plenum.

You can't hardly tell, but I changed the port floor of the adapter to be 10 degrees. I also added a .100" deep x .060 cut around the mouth of the port to help with alignment of the intake runners during assembly. Hopefully more progress to come next week.

I know you guys are probably tired of seeing models, but I finalized the design today. This one is a little taller than the one I had previously made. I corrected the intake port mounting angle (had it wrong on the other one) and made a couple subtle changes here and there.

The fittings and lines for the dry sumps are $$$ too. Looks like you're making good progress though. Looking forward to more pics of the fab work!

Those pump pics, that is terrible for them to list it as running. Last time I seen one look that bad bought used was a couple of months ago. Glad to see your going to spring for a new one now, and lucky you pulled it all apart. Some people would just believe their advertisement and run it. Catastrophic failure for sure for them. Nice build too btw. You found anybody with a metal shear yet? Machine shop owner in Roanoke Rapids (Lucas Precision) has one, and I could see if he would let me come to his shop and use it. I know him very well. Pm me if you'd like me to look into it.

Showoff..........

I am glad to hear you got shit worked out on the junk oilpump, but I hate it was such a headache for you Bryan, that def. sucks big ol' giant balls man.

The intake shit looks to be coming along quite nicely though, and it'll be totally bad ass to be able to tell folks when they ask what kinda intake it is that it's a "Mad Scientist Mills one-off special"... I don't know many folks that can proclaim such shit.

Now just tell a brother how to go about achieving "baller status" so's I can think about keeping up with your ass.

Keep the progress shots coming holmes, we all likey.

Yea, it was nice to finally get my refund. I was getting a little worried there for minute.

LMAO @ "baller status". For those of you who don't know, that's a long running joke between me and LittleMotor. We're both broke-ass red-necks.

Yea, I'm ready to get some of this stuff fitted on the car. I have a ton more parts to buy (body parts, engine parts, suspension parts, brakes, etc) and a SHIT TON more fab work to do. Hopefully, in about 3 more weeks, I'll be getting my bell housing from Quicktime for the 4L80. After that comes, I'll get the flywheel, converter and all that stuff mated up to the engine and in the car. Then, and only then, can I get back to more suspension / body modification. That dang bellhousing has been a major setback in this build. It's not Quicktime's fault either, because until this January, no one made one for the 4L80 to Mopar BB swap. I was originally going to mod a JW ultrabell to fit - but seeing as how Quicktime is making one, I'll let them handle that.

I've got a hunch that Jarret Welding here in Danville has a shear, and I'm going to hit them up on Monday (provided they are open) and see if they'll shear my intake material for me. While I'm there, I'll also pick up some steel to make the die for the intake runners out of. (that should be REAL interesting ) After I get the material sheared up, I'm goind to send a couple pieces over to our new site sponsor, Evans Performance, and have them CNC my last name (instead of "Wilson Manifolds", it would say "Pittman Manifolds") or "Challenger" or something on the sides and top of the intake manifold. Should look snazzy.

It's funny how a few key components will hold up so much, but it DOES happen to the best of us. Your shit will start humping again just like you say man. Good work takes time, and I have yet to see you do ANYTHING that could even be constrewed at bandaiding or half-assed since I first met you. Well except the SUTCE, but I wont tell anybody else.

Keep up the good work and progress shots B, I like following this thread along. I'd say it's fairly epic IMHO.

Really no one else has made up a way to mate a 4L80 to a mopar BB? What other OD transmissions are available that can easily be built to handle that kind of tq and mate to what you've got? Did they ever make an OD version of the 727?

Yes, they do, it's called a A618, or 47RE. Both can be MADE to handle some serious power, but the aftermarket is just not as strong for these as it is for the 4L80. Besides, I already have the 4L80 in my hands - I've had it now for at least 2 years.

There is one guy that I know of that has made a kit for the BBM to 4L80 - but it's around 4-5 grand when it's all said and done. He uses a highly modified JW ultrabell. Quicktime is making a bell housing, just for this type of swap, and it should be available for shipment soon. They also carry the flywheel (flexplate) and all the necessary hardware that you'll need to make the mechanical swap. I've got a trans controller coming soon from a "hook-up", so that should be cool. Right now, I'm just in a holding pattern until Quick Time is ready to ship. After that, I'll get it in the car, get the converter on order and start finishing up the chassis. Until I get the engine and trans in, I can't set any of the drive angles, customize any of the front suspension, or even finish the roll cage.

Just got confirmation from Quicktime that the bell housing will be ready to ship by Friday of next week. I'll post some pics when it arrives.

Nice pics too btw, and like Tommy said, I wanna see the intake on that bitch. Def. gonna be one killer ass thread to look back on when the car is running in the driveway.
