I don't think it looks high. I do think the front wheels look forward in the wells though. Would the geometry change with the weight of the engine put them more in the center?

thats probably the picture... the wheels are turned, so its making it look like the wheels are forward.

OOoookay. They don't look turned in the 1st pic, but I see it in the 2nd. Sorry for the mixup.

Made the other flange today. Seems like work is taking up all my fab time these days.

Got some more work done on the modeling of the manifold. Rough model - I've got a couple more things I want to add to it. I'll eventually make the front and top of the plenum removable. This will allow for runner length adjustments and configuration changes in the future (throttle bodies on top or in front).

Low, aint it? I might make it a little higher and get some more length to the runners. Right now, they are about 3 inches long.

After I get the manifold model finished and the intake runner length where I want it, I'll start making the die for the intake runner. I'm going to make a two piece die that comes apart - and use some .060 AL for the runners. I'll try my hand at die forming them and see what happens.

Nope, it's in the correct place. In the front where you can get to it. Same firing order as a Chevy, but the distributor rotates the opposite way.

Eh, I dunno if I would call this smart. Maybe "eccentric" would be a better fit. I mean, who in their right mind would fab up some highly complicated intake just so they could keep the factory looking hood?

I figured this engine would not be short of low end torque, hence the runner length. Even store bought single planes (Edelbrock Torquer and Weind Team G) have about 3.5 to 4 inch runner. I figure this should work kinda nice, and if it doesn't, I'll add some runner length in the plenum. About the only thing that I think it will affect much is the gas mileage. The bottom end should be good to at least 7,500 - so we'll see.

I'm using Autodesk Inventer 2009. I was trained on release 10 a couple years back and have been using it off and on for work/hobbies for at least 3 years now. I'm not a pro at it, but I can find my way around and make some cool things from time to time.

Sooooooo, I was doing some digging around because I could not remember when I bought the car. I thought it was like 2005 or something. Boy was I WRONG!

https://horsepowerjunkies.com/forums/...ht=new+project

I'm slightly embarrassed now. Looks like I need to pick up the pace.
