The deck surface has a couple little marks but the most of what you see is where I laid duck tape over the surface to paint the block. I hadn't cleaned it yet (duck tape wasn't my best idea but it's what I had laying there lol. As far as the swirl marks in the head you can see them but it's smooth so I'm rolling with it.

While all my parts are at the shop and we have some downtime I decided to try to finish smoothing up the intake runners where the previous owner of the intake left off. I'm new to polishing but everything I've read says on a carb motor don't polish it glass smooth leave it alittle rough. Does anyone have any input to add to that. I'm basically just knocking the big pieces of casting down. You can see in this picture on the right they smoothed about two inches from the head side surface in then stopped and about he same distance from the carb side down. The left runner I've already started on and took it all down to the same level with 80 grit rolls and a die grinder (variable speed electric would have been nice, using air powered with no adjustability on speed).

Sold my convertible today so I can try to finish this car. Bittersweet for sure as I've had the vert since I was 19. Anyways this project should start to take off now. Spent the first of the money tonight on some MT's for the car.

Finally got everything I need to button up the motor today at work. Just need my flex plate and converter and I can put the motor and trans in. Also got my 6AL-2 programmable today, obviously don't have it on the car but already loaded if up on the laptop and looks like it's going to be pretty alright.

Still racking up parts with no progress. Got my manual brake kit today, ordered all my dzus rails and fasteners, and some motor mounts today. Sometime in the near future were dropping off some templates for the front tubing and radiator support theb when we get them back I can get some progress pictures going.

Borrowed an old lexan windshield from a buddy to use as a template for mine. Bought a 72x30x1/8 lexan sheet with marguard coating for 100.00 so I'll have alittle extra work but it saves me some dough on a precut windshield. I have alittle more trimming to do around the clips for the molding and then I'll tape it up to do the blackout around the edges. Hopeful I'll be able to finish it up this week.

Got the car over to my buddy's to start the tubing for the front. We got the sway bar mounts removed, cut the top of the frame rail out on the drivers side as it was pretty rusty and also matched up the passenger side rail. We also cleared the way for the down bars from the cage to the rails.

Had to take alittle more from the sides so the bars could get up in there. One side is notched just gotta match up the other and weld the bars in.

Phillip got both bars fitted and welded in tonight. Tomorrow we hope to finish boxing in the frame in the rear, trimming the lip on the quarters, and installing the antiroll bar.

Last night showed some progress, there was a lot of brainstorming on how to make the lift off front clip work with GT side skirts attaching to the bottom of the fender. I could have just peeled all the GT kit off and put a lx bumper on it but then it just wouldn't be dads GT. Plus I've searched and have yet to find anyone that has done it. We started by cutting the the bottom of the fenders off where it goes down behind the Side skirt, where it goes behind the fiberglass bumper, and all the bracing in behind the fenders.

Here's a pic of the passenger side lower fender installed. We used bar stock to weld it to the car. The idea will be to have these permanently fixed to keep the side skirts from flapping and also the Dzus tabs will come off these lower parts of the fenders.

Here's the drivers side fixed in place with the sideskirt installed. Worked perfect.

We were going to start putting the dzus rails on the fenders but it was getting late so instead we just did some more cutting on the fenders, bolted them to the bumper and we walked it over to start brainstorming on how to dzus it all on the car.

We ran into a snag with the antiroll bar install. The arms on the ARB contact the coilovers, it is new but I got it from Farlow who I'm pretty sure got it from someone else so I thougnt a return would be out of the question. But after contacting UPR the sales manager told me no problem send it in and he'll get me in the one I need. Thought that was pretty alright of them. So the ARB install is on hold until I can get one back.

I took the week off to do family stuff during Christmas. Phillip kept going at it, stopped by yesterday and he has the Racecraft dzus rails installed and the drivers side fasteners and one of the passenger side fasteners done. Have to do the front crossmember and bumper bar then tje front should be finished up.

We got all the dzus fasteners for the front clip finished tonight. Just need to do some tweaking to line the body panels up alittle better. Removed a lot more random brackets and the wiper linkages tonight as well. We have the bar for the front bumper tacked in place, the next step tomorrow will be the lower radiator support/tabs the bar will lock into on the bumper. Hopefully once this is done we can start fitting the hood, the hood fits horrible so it's gonna be some work. Here is a pic of the tabs on bar stock that Phillip made.

Here is a pic from the drivers wheel looking behind the fender.

Bumper bar and plates installed.

Thanks. Tonight we got a lot more done. The radiator support is in and the tabs to secure the bumper bar. We still have some tweaking to do on the dzus tabs. We also started fitting the hood tonight, had to take a pretty good bit off and Phillip is going to add some fiberglass to the rest and sides to clean up the lines. Waiting on the anti roll bar to get in before we finish up the floor so in the mean time we're going to mount the seat, column, and harness.

No new progress on the car yet. Took New Years off and Friday is my Birthday so probably no new updates until the weekend. It's not progress on the car but I did get my final pieces of safety gear for me which is a step towards racing the car. It's all second hand but I didn't have a couple grand to drop on new stuff, I got my Simpson Pro Bandit, jacket, shoes, socks, pants, some Carbon x Oakley underwear, and a Simpson Pro Rage HANS. Some people will probably talk shit and think it's overkill but it gives my family peice of mind plus I whine when I get a little burn blister don't think I could handle a real burn lol.
