Supercharged 1997 S10 SS

Bought this back in March to be my DD. It didn't run and needed a lot of work. Drove it up until it died 3 weeks ago. Hoped it was only the intake gaskets but it ended up being worse. Replaced the gaskets and it started knocking and locked up. I am taking the road less traveled and not doing an LS swap. I am going to build up the 4.3 with ARP hardware, H beam rods, and balancing the rotating asm. The heads are going to be cleaned up a little with a mild port job since it is going to be driven daily and a custom grind cam after the heads are done. The truck already has JBA headers and an CAI. The truck made good numbers being it had 210k miles on it. The supercharger is a Powerdyne non-intercooled unit that I plan on intercooling down the road.

First things was to drop the mirrors, taillights, clear corners, tailgate, and some air shocks on the rear.

Found the floor cracked after removing the carpet to pressure wash it Got it welded up.

New SS emblem

Installed a Pioneer Navigation unit I got from a board member a few years ago.

Both motor mounts were busted so I replaced them with some Energy Suspension pieces. I really didn't notice much difference in motor vibrations since the old one were toast.

163hp/209tq

Pulled the intake and replaced the gaskets

Thought all was good until this.....

And now we are here

Hotwire is a good little Junkie
You going to run a marine intake? What about ECM? Can't remember what year that is, but if it's 95, I'd throw it in the trash, can't do anything to it. Lot of guys are swapping to 0411 ECMs and using HPTuners.

1997. I am going to run the stock ecm but plan on going 411. I thought about the marine unit but I just plan on using 42# wynjammer injectors to keep things simple.

Stock posi with 3.42's . I know the G80 isn't very good but it is better than an open carrier! Lots of guys are going with either an S-10 8.5 rear or an 8.8 which is a good swap!

Nice project, and finally, something that DOESN'T have an LS swap!

Thanks everybody. I sold almost every LS part I have so I wasn't about to buy more. I really wanted my '93 back but it seems it isn't in NC anymore.

My brother had a 99 GMC version with the 4.3 and that thing was impressive for being a cheap pickup.

That's the one I am trying to find. Kinda funny I never could bring myself to sell the nitrous kit I had on it, it's still sitting at the shop waiting.

I can tell you first hand don't change the gears. I tried 3.73 and 4.10 ran the same at te track as the stock 3.42. While the motor is definitely swap the converter though.
