Well not much to add right now. Got the truck in the shop before my wife had the baby and got some accessories bolted up, under side done, and that's about it. Got it to where power is hooked up and I can sit in it and turn the key on with all the lights on lol.

It runs!! I had to figure out why it had 3 cylinders had misfires and found that 3,5,and 6 had dead injectors. Got them in and its good!

So, a lot has happened with this truck. Had about 5k miles on the 4.3 I built and something broke. Had a dead cylinder. After finding high leak down in a few cylinders I pulled the valve covers. Had a broken Comp Cams double valve spring. Also I believe my high leak down was possibly from the injectors washing the rings out when first trying to get it running. I should of known better to trust those injectors after those years of sitting. The engine would also build up pressure in the cooling system very quick, which I found to be the #6 cylinder head bolts broke loose very easily. Not sure why, but when I installed them I did a few torque cycles of tighten, loosen. tighten, loosen, etc over a period of time. I decided instead of putting more money into the motor to do what I should have in the first place, LQ9 swap
As of now I got an '02 LQ9 that is being honed, SRP or Weisco pistons, bearings, LS9 head gaskets, ARP head bolts, and probably a BTR stage 2 truck cam. Trying to keep it fairly stock for now but I want to build it with longevity in mind. Heads are the stock 317's that will get a valve job and cleaning. I have all of Holley's LS swap parts for it and a Current Performance swap harness. I didn;t think it would take this long for the machine work as it has been there for about 11 months for a hone and balance the rotating asm..... I was planning to already be driving this. I will go back through the 4.3 one day and maybe swap it into another truck with the Procharger setup and have some fun. My oldest has about 5 years before he starts driving so that should give me an excuse to get it back up.

Finally got the 6.0 back from the machine shop in late July I think it was. I actually ended up picking up a 110k miles 4.3 from a guy that said it had a miss on #6 at idle but went away while driving. Rolled the dice as I thought it sounded like a valve and it was. Actually had a leaking valve on #4 and #6 cylinders. Machine shop said it would be about a month wait for a valve job, I picked up a newer set of heads that had the bolt down roller fulcrum rockers and bolted them on after checking the valves. re gasketed everything and a new GM timing cover. It is all in the truck now bolted up to the trans, accessories on, just need to finish the small things and get it on the road. Gonna take a little more time with the 6.0 swap. Added some pics of the broken valve spring from the other motor. Also found that the valve tips were chewed up a little. Heads were setup by the machine shop and I feel like I measured the pushrods correctly. You can see the rockers are not centered on the valve tips. Next time I will just go with some self aligning rockers.

This is my long term goal for the truck. It is crazy what people want for these used when you can buy them new with a little wait time.

With the release of the 2650 the availability of used 1.9s has gone up alot. I sold mine and all the supporting mods when I went twin turbo in 2 days.

While I have all the LS stuff to do the swap, My oldest boy said he wanted to drive this when he starts driving, only a few years out. Sooooo I decided to hold off on the swap. I picked up a stock 1997 4.3 a while back that had a misfire on 1 cylinder. I had a pretty good feeling it was a valve as I have ran into that many times with the 4.3 and he had replaced everything including the spider, distributer, plgs and wires. 116k miles. My heads from my built 4.3 need too much work so I picked up a good set of newer heads from a buddy. These have the trunion style rockers. Cleaned out the block from all the crap dexcool. Removed all the freeze plugs and took a hose to it. Pure mud came out of the block. Re gasketed and sealed everything. Here is where I found out NEVER THROW ANYHTING AWAY!! I had bought a y pipe for a '98 S10 because my '97 was beat up pretty bad. I never compared the 2. Took a load of scrap and junked the '97 pipe. The '98 isn't even close to working. A blazer pipe will not work and it has to be a 96 or 97 s10. Every pick and pull has cut the cat off but they take the end of the y pipe with it. I finally have about put something together to work to get it inspected.
I've got too many dead vehicles around here!
