Huge explosion...
Memorial Day weekend race in Texas, keep an eye on the Corvette of Kenny Esner. Grant McCrary is in the TT Mustang in the other lane.

Keep your eye on the passenger side of the car, at around the 1:28 mark you can actually see Kenny crawling out of the car. I know alot of guys on here have street cars and don't have to worry about it, but for the guys who have full out drag cars or who have to have equipment in the drivers cockpit, be aware of placement. Imagine how bad it could have been if he couldn't crawl over the N2O bottles, or had a huge intercooler he couldn't get around.

Wow.......that was incredible. Wonder if he had a suppression system? If so, it doesn't look like it was doing much....if anything. I am sure he will consider one now if he doesn't have one....

From the best I can understand he had the Halon fire systems as required from the association he was running with but in the midst of trying to stop the car, the sudden explosion, and being pinned against the wall, he simply panicked and did not pull the trigger on it.

Dropped valves could also account for the backfire or a timing retard for the system not coming on. Long story short, the initial backfire through the intake could be caused by a multitude of things.
