Fender exit exhaust

So what is technically legal? Anything that protrudes out from the bumper itself illegal? Does it have to terminate at the bumper itself, meaning flush with the bumper?

I've seen some guys running 45*-60* "bull horns" in Ultra Street/Ultimate Street I believe, but they weren't the full 90* style bull horns like you see in X275, OL275 and ODR.

Just wondering, why are bull horns even illegal? Is there a definitive reason why? Just trying to get my downpipe done and need some answers.

This goes for Real Street and Ultra/Ultimate/Killa/Budget whatever it's called street.

Bullhorns look too racecar is the reasoning in ultra. They are legal in rs from what I know. Fwiw a single fender exit with no bullhorn will steer the car when the wheels are up.

If it sticks out enough to make a turn outside of the body it is a bull horn. If it sticks out an inch or two, nobody will care.

So what is the reason for no bull horns chuck? If mine end up being fender exit with no bull horns they will not stick out at all, I think it looks tacky. I like a flush clean look with trim rings.

My downpipe:

No single fender exit here, dual 4" all the way. I'd like the added down force that I'm sure the bull horns can create.

So no reasons just "you can't run them"...really not trying to stir anything up, I'd just like an answer from the rule makers other than "it looks too racecar". Hell we went past "looks too racecar" a loooooong time ago.

I'm going to have v-bands put right before the front bumper on my downpipes so that I can put a bull horn on it easily.

Ask John Sears. He wrote that rule. Maybe it is the shin hazard, the exhaust in the face of the track starter, the jackassness or the looks. I don't know. If you can get him to change it in Ultra, we will too. Other than that, I'll give you the reason mom used to give me when I asked why I wasn't allowed to do something. Just because.

Lmao.

I'm going to just have v-bands right on the inside of the bumper to where if I ever were to want to run a different class where there isn't this rule I can toss a bull horn on there.

Blake was talking about letting bullhorns slide in SR. Should know in the next day or two.

I like that a lot. El Diablo style!

OK, I'll be the asshole that asks the question, if they're going to be allowed in SR POSSIBLY....why not Real Street? I know I know, give an inch and we take a mile....just want to know what advantage they have.

My reasoning is incase a head gasket or something else decides to blow out the exhaust it doesn't get under the tires and cause a wreck...definitely not trying to copy el diablo in any way
