ADRL no longer at Rockingham

Just saw this over on YB:

http://www.adrl.us/news/

"Rockingham Dragway owner Steve Earwood bid farewell Wednesday to one of the most successful events in his track’s long history, citing changes in both the marketplace and the series itself as reasons for his decision to amicably end an eight-year relationship with the American Drag Racing League."

Wow, it would seem that adrl would make rockingham a lot of money with all the people that went to see it. Has anyone looked at the bathrooms, stands and the track lately?

They set attendance records, but almost everyone got in free! That, combined with the BYOB'ers, leads me to believe it wasnt a huge moneymaker, but a staffing and cleanup headache.

I never went cause of the crowds - I didnt want to end up sitting at the back half of the track and see cars coasting by. You can only have so big of a crowd at an 1/8 race and have everyone actually see the racing.

I was told that it was a staffing and cleanup nightmare. They had to hire almost 100 extra people for the event for parking, cleanup etc. In the end there was no profit in the event so they decided to part ways. There is an article about it on competition plus. The

PsiTsi is a good little Junkie
The racing was great but the people no so much. Like a big trailer trash party. If the event was at least $10 to attend it would cut back on some of the dumb-asses. Something about the word "free" brings the retard regime aboard.
