Blake, I want to know if the SHP blocks will be considered under the stock block format? I think it is comparable to the LS and Mod motor for strength. Just asking were you stand. I just hate a stock 400 sbc block. I think the weight is more manageable at 3500#. Understood about keeping the fast cars out and making it fun but, always someone will hurt the class. Money will prevail. Take a COPO car or any of the race cars and you will blow the class up. Yes there are plenty of these type cars around that may come out and run for testing.

cobra jets and COPO's aren't legal for the class. The block is considered aftermarket. At one end of the other one combo or another will suffer. We are going to run a race and make some adjustments. I have one more set of revisions and then the rules are set

I would run this class if it stays heavy and in 6.7-7 range...small block 69 camaro pretty much stock....it weighs around 3800 with me in it

What about lower control arm relocation brackets if they're the "bolt on" kind and not the weld in.

You might as well strap a Smart Car to your roof.

3800lbs is just a bit too much for a min weight in my opinion, especially for the Mustang crowd. A guy over on S197Forum just weighed his full weight car with every option and a glass roof plus aftermarket wheels/tires and he only tipped the scales at 3617lbs. I have the exact same car as him down to the color minus the glass roof so mine should be a bit lighter. Granted I have a supercharger and in a few weeks it will be twin turbo so I won't have any issue making 3800lbs. But some of us don't weigh 250+lbs and some run nitrous. A base Coyote on say a 150 - 200 shot is not going to make that weight. Maybe the heavier Camaros and Challengers can make that weight but the Mustang as rated from Ford shows only 35xxlbs for the manual base model. The new Mustang is not that heavy. The majority of the field will be 94-04 Mustang and similar year F-body cars and many could struggle to make weight. My opinion is 3700lbs , that extra 100lbs makes the difference. Hell you can run 10's in a base Coyote on motor at near full weight and stock suspension. I'm interested in the class but competition is what makes it fun. Who knows maybe it's a hit at 3800 just hope that min weight doesn't deter too many from participating as a 3 car field is not fun at all.

Damn. I'd have to throw some sandbags in the car just to make weight, plus my cam is too big by .003 on the exhaust side. Add 100 lbs. for ported 243 heads, so 3900 lbs raceweight. Just too much for me.

My c5 with an iron block and blower doesn't weigh 3800. It closer to 3350.

Sounds like you should race one of those lightweight classes then. I applaud these guys settng up a class for heavy cars. The cars that are on the heavy side from the factory should have somewhere to race without having to gut them to be in the hunt.

Then the description should say "New Race Class for Heavy Cars that Can't Compete Unless They Are Gutted and Driven by a Horse Jockey". Since when is 3300lbs light???

Since most newer cars arent no where near 3300lbs. You saw the rules then complain about them? I hear ultrastreet is always accepting c5 vettes.

Street car race.. any weight, any combo, take a 100 mile trip before the race without any modifications tuning wise or changing anything. Must have tags, insurance, etc.. any DOT tire. Need a class like this.
