A couple of recent projects from BHP

I havent been on here as much as I would like to lately. I've got a few bigger projects going on, so here are a few recent jobs that I remembered to get the camera out on.

96 Corvette LT4. 40,000 miles. AFR competition ported heads, CC 503 cam, Edelbrock LT4 intake, 58mm Throttle body, MSD opti, Meziere electric water pump, Spec 2+ clutch, Spec billet single mass flywheel, MSD 6A ignition and coil, 4.10 gears, Hurst short throw shifter. Stock bottom end 11.5:1 compression. Cometic MLS gaskets and ARP head bolts. Coated Longtube Headers, Catted H, and Corsa cat back. Tuned by Jeff at Mayhem The dyno pulls were done before the MSD ignition, thus the blip in the graph towards the upper RPM range. We were also having issues with the tach signal, so the torque line is not present. At any rate, it made 424/375 STD

Other Notables include a 383 LT1 motor we built for NSTIGATR, and I'm currently finishing up a Magnacharged 402 LS2 build for a 2008 Trailblazer SS. Made 530 RWHP on 10 PSI after a Mayhem tune (cam, Maggie, Longtubes, FLT stage 5 trans, and Vig. 2800 stall). Motor will be about 9.7:1 this time around and we will be turning the boost up, so hopefully we'll see 600 out of it. Also, I'm building another 383 LT4 for another 96 vette. Should be done with that within 2 weeks. I'll try and remember the camera more often!

What type of fuel management system do they have for the 6.1's? Didn't know if they had tuning capability yet.

As of now, Diablosport is the only company that I know of that has cracked the Dodge PCMs. Procharger uses Diablosport via a Predator handheld to tune these things. You actually have to pull the stock file, send it to them, they send you back a tuned file which you load into the Predator, and into the vehicle. Also, Mayhem now has the master program to write custom tunes for the Dodge Predator handhelds. It will be going there to get a custom tune after the headers and exhaust (if I can talk him into getting some)

It also uses a Flow Charger voltage booster on the fuel pump for additional fuel

That's cool on the tuning part. Those motors are very strong, the 6.1's. I'll be curious if the tuning is ever made easy (like it is with chevy/ford), if people will put those motors in some other cars. I'll get a challenger convertible when they come out. Will probably leave it stock as you just can't make those cars real fast simply due to their pig weight. Such a shame given the potential of that power plant.

No doubt. I have been keeping up with these things on the tuning issues, and from what I have heard, the Dodge PCMs are extremely difficult to reverse engineer. It would be nice if Mopar would throw one of these companies a bone! The Procharger is supposed to add 150 hp+ and it really feels GREAT. It tears second gear all to pieces. But you're right, in the grand scheme of things, the weight is always going to be an achilles heel.
