i am down here. car scene kind of sucks. if you like import guys i good friends with the entire scene that has anythign that is worth a damn. i don't really know the v8 scene here, its not like in raleigh where everybody cruises capital on weekend or anything like that. the scene got bad about 6 months ago when a bunch of the big v8 guys got busted for drag racing, and some got cars impounded.

I went down to wilmington yesterday. I was surpised at the lack of muscle cars in general. I saw nothing but RICE the entire time (no offense). We got our apartment at clear run, we are suppose to move in Sept. 10-11th. We'll have to get up and hang out. The Trans AM should make it down there.

I have an automatic. 3 speed at that. On street tires... if anything I rather race from a stop...3000 stall and stickies are hell...even for your little AWD DSM. He has a 6 spd WS6. 20 MPH roll. No one spun. If anything, he hooked up and got break. And no, he was not catching me. I was walking him on the big end. I asked for another race.. figured I could do better, he didn't want to do it again.

No Nitrous. No Boost. No Stroker. No race gas. Read the sig.

So you race me with your AWD, Boost fed, raced gas DSM... I have beaten a few and been beaten by a few... but that was on my old motor, haven't raced one on my new setup yet :)

No just me and my 2 friends built our 2 cars together, race together, work together, that kinda deal. Don't take me too seriously. Just razzing you, but always willing to race. The 5 speed car will be running much better it has only been to the track once and was having problems. Waiting to get it tuned out and then spray it. The auto is getting some bolts turned on it soon as well ;).

Oh yeah no juice needed for the 5 SPEED? So we can go now? :)

Wouldn't be the first time his viper saw talon tail lights I hear either. Interesting as i have a video that shows different. I was coming by lee when his tranny broke. As for the other dsm yeh he has a faster car but when we cut off my nose was in front and he would have got walked in tripple digits but I have 10 cylinders and he has 4 so I wouldnt expect any less. I will be the first to admit his car is faster in the 1/4 but I have my doubts on the highway. Ill also be the first to admit your dsm's are fster than my viper but I'm not into drag racing so challenging me to that would be like challenging mike tyson to ice skating. Im in the process now of trying to get enough seat time so I can actually race the viper on a am level, until then I'm just as much of a bench racer as anyone.

Last night was fun except when the smack talking amost turned into a fight. Kinda always pisses off people when you lose and then sya well I can bring my friends car..... You lose you lose, there is ALWAYS gonna be someone faster. ANd its a lot better to leave the excuses we saw he was on street tires none of us are dukb enough to not know it would be a better race on better tires. But using it as an excuse after losing is about as lame as if Fit had lost him saying but I only have a 4 banger you have a v8. It is run what you brung, perhaps next time the results will be different. Dan seems like a cool guy though, it seemed to be his friends that where more pissed about him losing than he was. Nice car though, look forward to seeing more of it when the bottle gets puton it.

it just sucks on stock gears and I can't use my 3000 stall out the hole so I could walk him down quicker. I knew it was gonna be walk down game because he was going to get me out the hole. Thats just a fact. I went to brewers one time on street tires, same ones I have now (245x45xR16) Kuhmos, I put up consectutive 8.8's, 8.9's. ET Streets I put up consectutive 8.1's. GeoffWelcome to the area and there are much faster DSMs here than the 12 second ones that where racing the other night, but where is the need for us to run when the 12 second ones are cleaning up. Hope to see your grand national on the street ;). There are always faster cars, and everyone knows on the street the faster car isn't always the winner. Haven't seen any grand nations around in quite some time. I have always loved them though, use to know a few guys with very fast ones back home.

I love to see good running cars--any kind---if faster or slower than mine--could care less.I just like cars.
Somebody did some research to find the buick.I just got the car back this weekend from a motor swap.It appears to be running pretty good.I need to get some break-in miles on it.And then head to the track for some tuning sessions.Myself and a couple friends usually go to J'ville for the tuning.It will be a couple of weeks before i am ready to run and then the car will be tuned way at first at the track to do some tuning.
I will post here when i go to the track,maybe we can get a few people to go!!!Does anyone know the T-n-t schedule--is it still thursday night from 6-? or is it on sundays now.
Anyway---you won't see the GN on the street(except fpr break-in miles)---so if you see me---please be nice----i can't get on it for a bit.

Had a bunch of tuning to do my car---it went 12.90@13psi,then 12.3@16psi--can't wait for 27psi!!!!!!!!

nice tuning runs Geoff.. as for the DSM's nice cars, many are highly impressive (been handed my ass by Jason (Black Talon) here in Wilmington while in my wifes daily driver vette) matter of fact it was after that very event i became consumed with boost myself... but please do not be so bold as to make the statements that there is no need for the fast ones to come out and play because the slow ones are cleaning up...that's just overly cocky and plain ignorant.

I know the fast cars on this site.. and I know the ones people think are fast and are actually no where near in comparison. If you say you know the fast ones, then take note of how they act, they have nothing to prove and are generally easy going cool guys! sure they'll run, but most important, they'll shake your hands and talk to ya without a condescending tone afterwards like it should be handled. this thread smack talkin is interesting enough to read, but come on man put some merit and fact behind it!

12/13 second cars are awesome, nothing wrong with them and in many cases alot of hard work and effort went in to making them that way! but to say they are cleaning up? quit playin! and as far as i am concerned there will always be a faster car out there... I have laid low for a while in posting because anything with 2 digits in it just doesn't excite me anymore, but it should still excite the new comers, otherwise you loose a huge transition of great times and fun with your fellow enthusiasts. I have a few up in the air right now, that when are finished should be some fun streetables to play with. I am in transition between Wilmington and Raleigh right now and with a new job am having trouble squeezing in my much needed fun wrench time. so if any of you guys have some solid knowledge and a love of engines, Turbo's Supercharger etc etc.. more then just he said she said know how... shoot me an email, I would love to suck back a few suds and wrench on these projects a little while discussing ideas, theories and all that fun shit we do this for in the first place!

Yes, That is my wifes car.. it is a fun car for her and yes it does need new rears on it.. she has a heavy foot.. what can I say, she is alot like me.. and yes Tim is my younger brother and you were probably at my house while I had his car up on stands fixing his missed shift from 3rd to 2nd at 8k RPM.. had a few bent valves.. needless to say, i became a prelude mechanic on that little escapade.. nice motor.. he and I are thinking about getting an aftermarket block and building him a low compression drop in motor for it and slap a turbo in there so he can have a little more fun with it.

My car is a 96 collectors edition vette that is getting a good sized single and front mount kit.. power goals are up int he air until i get it finished, but the motor is built low compression forged bottom end.. I do head porting on LT cars so I will do a tricked out set of heads for it, cam that works well with driveability and boost and makes nice power, and all the other goodies needed to wrap up the project doing it right. a light speculation is somewhere in the 650-750 rwhp range, but that would be on race gas, and i am more interested in keeping it dialed in on a 93 octane tune. maybe for evry special occasions pour in some costly C16 and turn up the wich and see what she'll do for dyno numbers and maybe a pass at the track before they give me the boot.

any of you turbo guys in wilmington who are interested in sharing some input on the project or maybe taking a look at it, I will be working on it during the weekends starting next weekend.. here is what i have for it now.. add what ya htink it might benefit from if you don't see it on the list!

once the system has proven itself, I will likely be swapping in a T76 GTS or possibly a T88 depending on my next set of goals for the car.

Just a budget car. its only been to the track once and an 1/8th mile track at that. I ran an 8.1 with a 1.8 60ft in the middle of the summer. Should be in the 7's 1/8th mile with this cold air and a better 60ft. forged rods and pistons and a nitrous cam. Just no nitrous yet...

Sounds like fun---if you ever get ahold of c-16--tickle yourself giddy and try 40psi:) .I have swapped enough head gaskets and changed enough bearings-----only c-16 when it's time to turn it up.

NO---not in Wilmington--I could only get 23 psi before knock with the citgo----I will let know w/ c-16. 23 psi on the street sure felt good though.PLEASE let me know if you think there is any interest in buying a drum of c-16--prolly $7.50/gallon by the drum.I know(or i've heard)---you have had c-12---c-16 is a step above and worth the money.Over the winter i would be interested in buying a drum------Let me know.

The Gator Hole over in Brunswick county was selling the better race gas. They are located between Leland and Southport. It's a little mom and pop gas station. If you ever see a RED 85 GT Mustang with Pony 5 stars and tinted windows in Wilmington, that's me :)

What exactly do you mean by better? 116 octane? Bottom line is you should run the least octane possible without knocking to make the most power. So if you can get away with 110, There is no reason for 116.

But always nice to know thre are othe places to get race gas semi locally. How much are they charging per gallon now out there?

I've never been to the Gator Hole, just heard from a friend that had a race car that needed higher octane gas than 110. I thnk it's on 133 where they are fixing the old bridges. If I had to guess what they are charging I would say at least $5 a gallon.

I used to go to Harrell's Raceway (http://www.harrellsraceway.com) about 45min outside of Wilmington, it's an 1/8th mile track. They sell race gas there.

get that 60ft down and you would have been mid 8's , if not better.

I love to see good running cars--any kind---if faster or slower than mine--could care less.I just like cars.
Somebody did some research to find the buick.I just got the car back this weekend from a motor swap.It appears to be running pretty good.I need to get some break-in miles on it.And then head to the track for some tuning sessions.Myself and a couple friends usually go to J'ville for the tuning.It will be a couple of weeks before i am ready to run and then the car will be tuned way at first at the track to do some tuning.
I will post here when i go to the track,maybe we can get a few people to go!!!Does anyone know the T-n-t schedule--is it still thursday night from 6-? or is it on sundays now.
Anyway---you won't see the GN on the street(except fpr break-in miles)---so if you see me---please be nice----i can't get on it for a bit.

you can get 5, 15, 30, and 54 gallon containers of it. I have seen a 3XX gallon container of it, but I think that was a special item for a distibutor.

My 2.0 engine (5 foggers on it) lost about 20 whp with C23+ opposed to 87 octane when it was dynoed N/A with race gas
