A guy apparently drove through the back door of the Expo center at the fairgrounds. The door fell down and smashed a show car, and they took him away in handcuffs.
My vendor spot was in the Graham building, so I didn't see any of the action, just heard of it from some of the vendors around me.
Anyone know any details?

Nope, I grabbed the camera, but the battery was dead. :(
And apparently, no one else knew there was a show either.
I gave out tons of business cards and fliers, but the guys around me were only making a fraction of what they normally do. One guy said he normally makes $18k, but he only made $2400.

I used to work that show back when the Smith Family still operated/owned it, started working it when I was in the 7th grade, we never had any accidents like that! Thats crazy!
I def didn't even know there was a show either, I would hae loved to have gone.

Sounds like lack of advertisement. I didn't hear a word about it or see anyone mention it on here either.

I got a flyer about it in the mail but the weather was so crappy that I stayed home all weekend.

Yeah, the weather really killed a lot of it. I had planned on entering the Trans Am on Sunday since I was going to be in the vendor area anyway. Decided I didn't want to bother taking it out in the rain and just drove the truck.

Oh man, I'd be fit to be tied if that was my car.

Did the person crash into the door from the outside, or the inside? And, if from the outside, was it someone associated with the show, or just some random/drunk yahoo?

I went to the car show, but it was small and kind of weak.

From what I understand, he crashed in from outside. I don't have any more information other than he crashed through the door, the door crushed a show car, and they took him away in handcuffs.

I am pretty sure I saw on thread on here about it. For those of us that have been there previously......that show has gone to shit pretty much. It was falling off 6-7 years ago.......I'm actually surprised it still even happens.

yeah i asked about the show on here last week with a few replies. for the most part it sucked and was not at all worth the $8 to get in. but, it was something to do being that it was raining anyway. for future reference if you are looking for ford parts don't go.

It is under new management now, apparently.
Who knows if it will succeed. They need to stop charging people to get in, I'm sure they make enough money to not worry about it.

It's been under new management for the last two years. You know what in the last two years it's GONE DOWN HILL. No advertising, no incentive. The only reason I remember it is a friend's bday is the same weekend as the show every year.....
This year was by far the worst. There were about 25 spaces that were not filled. The crowd was much smaller than previously even though it was RAINING.. I would have thought that every car guy within an hour would have been there...

Wow, didn't realize it was that long ago. Yeah, the lack of advertising was rediculous. I only knew about it because I keep up with local shows for my business to get a vendor spot at.
I showed my TA there 2 years ago, and I lost to a brand new V6 Mustang and a brand new HHR. Found out later that the majority of the cars were friends of the judges and guess who got the trphies.
