Just figured id throw this out there b/c ive noticed it as a trend her lately.
Anyone found them selves just not able to get into the Christmas Spirit this year? I can list myself in that catagory this year. Last year I really didnt have any problems b/c having a child in the house really brightens up the season b/c you know when they get older they will remember it and it makes you want to go all out. And playing santa and sneakin around to get gifts is WAY more fun that Id have ever imagined.
But this year im kinda back to how I was b4 all that, and probably a little worse. By Thanksgiving im TIRED of the music(great idea marketing guy at the radio stations to start it at HALLOWEEN NOW!), I didnt decorate this year AT ALL, and Dreaded shopping and what not. I dunno if i need to go see a doctor or what, but I just couldnt make myself do it this year. IMHO CHristmas isnt what it used to be and has just become a juggernaut for companies to make money off of kids that want WAY too much stuff and parents that give it to them no matter what. Its become less and less about what its really supposed to be about...
Just wondering if anyone else felt like this or if you guys think i need to go see someone lol
And on that depressing note. lol I genuinely hope everyone has a good and safe holiday!
Matt
im with ya....
i dont decorate...its me myself and i at the house.....i hate the shopping frenzy and dealing with fucking idiots... i did all of my shopping online this year...and i hate listening to the radio cuz of the songs etc...
its kinda like ehhh another day.....
the only thing im doing tomorrow is spending time with my family then heading up to youngsville to see the gf's family....

Mine lost, but since the election thats been the furthest thing from my mind. I dont see him boosting business at the dealership i work at from Washington so at the moment im just gonna sit back with an open mind and see how things go....

The recession and not having money actually allowed for me to enjoy pissmas a little more this year. My girlfriend and I decided not to buy anything for each other. Once the pressure was off I felt like going and getting her something...because I wanted to. That made it all the better.

i'm in the same ole state of mind. i have kids but with my work slipping down hill i haven't been able to buy as much for them this year or get all the stuff they wanted.it bothers me cause they don't understand and they deserve to be spoiled on christmas cause it's the one time of the year that they look foward to.so yeah it sucks to be dad/santa this year

And it gets worse as you get older. You just got to roll with it sometimes and look forward to times ahead.

yea, the past couple of years i havent really been all about christmas. i guess its just apart of getting older. i just hate not having the same feeling before christmas that i use to have when i was a kid. i would give just about anything to have that feeling again.

It doesn't even feel like Christmas at all. The best thing is to watch my daughter open her presents even tho the only thing she wants is the bow and to eat wrapping paper.
Not to mention that today was a pretty shitty day. I was late getting to work because my car broke down and I had to shuffle cars around to get the Trans Am out to drive it to work. Then I tear my hamstring doing sprints in PT and manage to stub my big toe hard enough to turn the nail black on the opposite leg/foot. Then I find out I am extended on my assignment another month and some change. At least the day is almost over. I would drink a beer but the pills they gave me have an alcohol interaction warning...lol.

I am surely not in the Christmas mood this year. The packed malls, Christmas music in October, and all the things going on in my life don't help... Sad...
I am glad I will get to see Kaitlyn see her brand new swingset tomorrow that Santa is bringing her tonight... :)

Man, I'm with ya. This year has just been shit for my family and I. I've lost a grandmother on my dad's side, a real good friend (see sig), lost my job, my license, my money, and now I'm watching my grandfather on ma's side waste away because of cancer and pneumonia. Not to mention, there had been something going on with this girl and I, not exactly sure but we had feelings for each other, and tonight she tells me she fucked some dude. That's not such a big deal, but she told me not two weeks ago that she wanted me to be her first and all this shit.
Merry Fuckin' Christmas...

Christmas is what you make it. If Christmas is soley about getting then maybe it wont be as wonderful for the people who cant afford as many things this year.
Christmas has always been to me mostly about spending time with family and friends. I enjoy getting together with my family and Drews family and giving them gifts and making them happy. Of course I love getting gifts being even if I didnt get any I am just thankful I have family and friends to spend it with.

Christmas has been kinda slack for a few years now. We have stopped spending so much and started getting presents that really mean something, and trying something new each year. Two years ago we went to Myrtle Beach. Last year, we all exchanged free gifts. This year we are doing cheap gifts and going to the movie theater.
Granted, this year sucks worse than the last two, so I will give you that. I am not feeling the cheery and bright thing, but I am grateful for my family and friends that care.

Seems like every year it's increasingly difficult to get into that "Christmas spirit". The retailers and radio stations forcing the stuff down our throats earlier and earlier doesn't help either. Whether it's just my age or the fact that this has been another brutal year on so many levels I couldn't say. Just ready for it to be over and start fresh in 09...

Christmas is was okay this year, even though I don't have my kids. A good friend told me awhile back that a Christmas should really be about doing things to make others happy...and he was spot on. Gives ya a good feeling and helps you see what is good in your own life instead of focusing on the bad like we all tend to do.

I couldn't get in the Christmas spirit either. Seeing all of those toys that we got together at the cruise-in was about the best I've felt about Christmas this year. I look forward to Christmas Eve and Christmas day more now for just a time to see all of my family and catch up with everyone and such. I guess when you get older it just isn't as fun? And I don't have kids so that's not helping either, plus being 65 degrees on Christmas day sure doesn't help.

I didnt have any money struggles at all this year. But this is the 5th year in a row that I havent been home in CA with my family.
Last year was the worst Christmas I have ever had. I was on a shitty FOB and my wife's phone wasnt working. Then I almost fought my plattoon seargent. That truly was shitty. I have never been lonely in my life before that night.
Oh yeah. FUCK christmas music. I cant stand that shit... seriously. That and all the Christmas traffic. Truley brings the retard out of already stupid ass people.

Well, I had a good reason for a crappy Christmas, and it happened. About 5:20 this morning, my Grandaddy passed away in his sleep. We got him comfortable, and he went very peacefully. Just gotta make it through for Grandma, and I'm glad he made it through Christmas.
Y'all have a good new year guys.

Christmas is little hard. Couple of years ago my parents were in a bad accident leaving our house on Christmas day (her dad died). Our daughter has helped bring Christmas back though.

Christmas this year was a blessing to our family. This year, my mom spent 2 times in ICU and we were told another time not to take her to the hospital because there was nothing they could do for her and she would not make it thru the day. She is still with us.
Also, my 19 year old daughter spent 6 weeks in Duke's Neuroscience ICU. She is doing much better now.
Christmas is not all about the giving of presents. It's about the gift God gave the world. And I for one feel blessed for what Jesus
has done for me and my family.

Sorry most here didnt have a good christmas or feel the spirit. I have two little girls who make my world. They are what make christmas special for me. I feel so lucky to have such a wonderful family. Coming from my POS family that I have nothing to do with, to what I have now is a blessing in itself. I know we all have some weirdo's in our family tree but my family truely consists of pure hunks of fucking shit. Hope it gets better for anyone who didnt have a great christmas

I'm 7000 miles away from anything that ressembles Christmas. Can't tell you what I'd give to be home!

Sorry to see so many of the HPJer's out there had a crappy Christmas or don't like the Holiday. I'm really surprised that so many people really hate this time of year. This time of year has always been a time to see friends I haven't seen in a while, family and just generally hang out. We had a full house for the last 5 days or so and it was great.
