Thanks for the call robbie, this shit is gonna be TIGHT!

Im going out and buying a death clutch shirt now lolz.

BROCK FOR THE WIN BITCHES!

EDIT: I will say brock doesnt deserve the shot quite yet, but at this point from dana whites perspective if brock wins (which I think he will) it ruins couture for any other organization. This is gonna be a barn burner. im heading over to sherdog to see what the MMA people are saying now...

i'll actually be pulling for randy on this one. But if he loses, it's not going to upset me that much haha. I do like brock, so at least I'll be entertained!! Let me know where it's going down and I'll be there!

Because everybody hates on the man, and hes going to run shit through the heavyweight division like its his job. ive called it from before he even had his first fight, and I find it awesome hes actually doing it. If youd like to lose some money on the fight, send me a PM. Along with everyone else. Maybe I can pay for the throttle body and elbow on the car with the cash.

Actually Dom, I bet if you do a search; I was on Brock's bandwagon more than anybody.

Guess what, I still am.

But, I just don't wanna see Randy lose. Period. There's not a fighter out there that I would want to see beat Randy at 45 years old. He's the smartest fighter there is at this point and time in his life *next is Anderson Silva, followed by GSP* These guys just make great fight plans and I don't see Brock being able to do that yet.

Robbie, It's called more skill and more technique. I'd say he's dead on and Brock will not be able to simply toss Randy around like one would think. Doesn't mean he can't take him down (because he can take ANYBODY down) and it doesn't mean Brock won't win. He just won't have his typical dominance in the clinch...

I wasnt saying you werent on his bandwagon, I was simply replying to Papa Smurf. I like Randy, but hes never been one of my favorite fighters. oddly in this situation because hes a wrestler. On the flip side, Brock is a wrestler and behind chuck he is my favorite fighter (followed closely by bisping). I guess its just the raw power of Lesnar, combined with the fact alot of MMA people hate on him, is what makes me like the guy.

And hes banging Sable.

Randy is going to look like he was in a car crash with no seat belt after this! Randy better pray he gets him in a submission that he cant muscle out of.Lesner will throw him around like a rag doll.Randy cant match lesners power period! Lesner is no joke at all,i dont care what anyone thinks.Dana white knows exactly what he is doing. There is a reason dana has him in the UFC.

Couture is one of my favorite fighters of all time. I just don't know how much longer he can beat Father time. This is all just so he can evenutally fight Fedor. What happens if he loses the next couple of fights? If so, will the fight with Fedor even mean anything?

This is Dana White's way of saying "Welcome back to the UFC" :baby:

I think there's going to be a lot of shocked people just in this thread when the fight goes down.
Brock is a large man and he's getting better every day and even though he has a good 50+lbs on Randy doesn't mean that he's going to dominate Randy in the clinch.

I'm with Blubyu on this one. I think this will be a sub via Randy but i'm not sure which round it will be. :D

I don't understand it at all, Brock doesn't deserve the title shot yet at 2-1 are you kidding me get out of here. The winner of Mir vs. Nog which I will be pulling for Mir deserves the title shot, I hate to see Couture go also, its a mess right now.

So let me get this straight. The UFC is going to let one of the most respected UFC hall of fame champions of all time, a veteran of the sport...one that everyone loves...get beat by an ex-WWE wrestler that has <5 UFC fights under his belt?

Did I say that? No.

There are a few people more "deserving", namely Mir or Nogueria. but both of them are already locked in to fight at the end of the next ultimate fighter, so they cant.

So, in the UFC, no, there is no one else at the moment more "qualified."

I dont see what him being in the WWE has anything to do with though.

I don't really do the whole gambling thing. I also think Lesnar has a great chance at winning. We'll just wait and see. And by all means, you can rub it in my face if Brock wins. I encourage it.

I was talking to John (works for Rich at Majestic, he fights MMA as well) at the track day, he thinks Lesnar wont be able to take Randy either. Alot of MMA guys seem to not be giving the fight to brock. I dunno, I just dont see randy submitting him. I dunno if my ability to look at the fight from a point of view as "an outsider" because I dont train or fight myself will hurt or help me with this prediction. Brock is just going to make Randy look like a toy next to him.

And it wouldnt be any fun to rub it in your face, because we dont argue ever. Maybe if I didnt like you.

MKIIIDrifter

Just to give an inside as far as wrestling ability is concerned. Lesnar is a NCAA champ, which is nothing to sneeze at. Couture was an Olympic Alternate, which is still an amazing accomplishment. Lesnar challenged Kurt Angle to a wrestling match backstage and got his ass handed to him. I know the whole MMA math thing doesn't work, but Couture's wrestling is on another level. Herring isn't that great of a grappler and Lesnar could not finish him.

just so you know, this came out to be a myth. Both Angle and Lesnar confirmed no such thing happend. And in fact, Angle was the one who spoke of it first saying it never happend. (although I cant remember where i read it from, but none the less)

For all those saying that Dana wants Randy to lose to Brock. I'm not so sure about that anymore. True, it's a win/win for Dana, but I really think he wants Randy to win to help lure Fedor into signing a contract w/ the UFC.

Actually, I believe part of getting Randy to come back to the UFC included a daily thigh rub and reach around...

And I agree with the second part. WWE has nothing to do with anything.

I dont see what him being in the WWE has anything to do with though.
I will not discount the athleticism of WWE wrestlers. They are truly athletes with many successful backgrounds in real wrestling.

But, my reason for mentioning WWE was because I am afraid components of that sport will infuse themselves in real MMA. Listen, many people that like pro wrestling are also fans of MMA. In fact I would bet that Elite XC is banking on this demographic. People that watch WWE don't care that it's fake. They like the drama of the match-ups and the whole clash of big names in wrestling.

I love MMA because I started watching boxing and was lost after the sport began slipping away from good classic American fighters. There's no surprise why many of the heavy weight fights are taking place in Russia instead of Las Vegas. MMA is so much more of a comprehensive sport that encompasses so many skills. No wonder why it has replaced boxing for me. I love good technical ground battles that last three rounds that finally end in a submission, like the Nogueira vs Henderson Pride fight, or all of the undercards in UFC 87, which was Lesnar's last fight. In fact, I liked everyone of those fights BETTER than the Lesnar fight. But it seemed everyone else that was at Fox n' Hound that night was pumped up for the Lesnar fight.

So, OK, maybe it's unfair of me to pick on WWE. I don't take anything away from Lesnar. I just don't want the UFC to turn into some sort of WWE hybrid with nothing but the drama, flair, and stupid drunk fans that care nothing about quality technical fighting. I hope I'm not alone here.

Seriously man, Have any of ya'll watched the Dana White video blogs??

This is Day ONE, 9/1/08

Dana starts giving Randy Thigh massages and shit around day 2 I believe. Secretly I believed Dana swallowed to Randy to come back. A lot of cash and at he at least cupped the balls:lol:

I'm glad Randy's back though, just hate he wasted a year of his aging prime. ON that note, it appears that Randy said he's going to camp for 10 weeks to get ready for Brock. I surely hope that's enough time to get the ring rust off of him:think:
