Last month I paid off a bunch of credit cards. The best way to do this is to call and get a payoff. Tell them you want to pay all fee's interest, etc. This "should" prevent future fee's...fuckers! I get a bill for one of the cards yesterday. I owe the bastard $45 fucking buck!!! WTF. A late payment fee and a finance charge...again WTF! I'm already pissed when I get ready to call and then I find that they don't even have a fucking toll free number, cheap fucks!...So I get some dude that sounds like he is from Pakistan on the line. He tells me I paid the bill after the 21st hence the late fee. I told the dick brain I paid the fucking card on the 21st,.... of course this shows in the system...but....the catch is, if I pay on the phone on the 21st, it takes two fucking days to clear...well why the fuck didn't they tell me that then. Especially since I was very explicit about wanting to pay the card off and I closed the fucking account. The other $15 and change was for finance charges from when I was suppose to have a fucking $0 balance. So, he agrees to waive the late fee that should not be there in the first place. But he tells me I should wait until the 26th to pay the remainder because he can't do it without knowing what kind of addtional interest might occur. I say, so let me get this straight dumbass, you want me to wait two fucking weeks so you can get a few more fucking pennys in interest. You must be on fucking crack. Now for the kicker. He tells me he thinks if I pay $15 buck I should be good...THINK!! WTF, so I agree to pay the $15 bucks. The bitch tell me it will cost me $15 bucks to pay him on the fucking phone!!! WTF!!! Finally after a bit of ranting and asking for a supervisor they agree to just waive it all "like they should have in the fucking first place. I swear, seem like everyone is out to nickle and dime the fuck out of you!!

Speaking of credit card companies...
I broke down and got a credit card for the wife's gas bills. Pretty much, use this for gas and gas only, and at the end of every month I'll pay it off.
Well, because it was for gas and gas only, I specifically asked for a super low limit, I can't remember but it was like 4 or 500 bucks. And that's exactly what I got. I pay everything online and I always give them a dollar so that my ending balance is -1.xx every month.
Just so happens I look at the details of the damn card a couple months ago and realized that they've (I'm guessing because of my great payments and monthly negative balance), increased the limit to some retarded amount on the card.
Luckily, my wife doesn't know this and I can trust her anyways, but you have no idea how pissed I would have been if I would have all of a sudden popped up with a multi thousand dollar balance on a card that was supposed to have a 4 or 500 dollar limit.
Fuckers tried to get me on the sneak tip I guess. No biggie, but it could be. I'll keep on w/ the negative balances, and hopefully my wife won't get pissed and try to test the limit of the card one day, lol. If she does, I'll be spending some green ones on some shells:evillol: j/k of course.

They will continue to increase it. That is one of the reasons I got rid of this card. I had a $500 limit which is what I requested. One day I'm looking at the statement and my limit is raised to $2K. I called and told them I to put it back, they did....a few months later they raised it again.

I didn't bother calling them or informing the wife about it. But I've noticed that it's been increased a couple of times already. By pretty good amounts too damn't.
I bet if I was back at UNC and broke but trying to race anyways; they wouldn't give me an increase unless I promised them my first born. <=which is now here and for sale by the way:lmao:
Seriously j/k about that last part you evil fucks.

At least you were paying them off as well. Nothing like letting a credit card whoop that ass. It's not hard to do. I was a teenager once, lol. Thank god mom came to the rescue back then. I'll be honest about it, they make it very easy when you're young to get a lot of money you don't have... Scissors are a teenagers best friend.

Funny you say that, I remember my first card after I joined the Air Force. Got some shit in the mail said I was preapproved for something like $8K, just sign and send back. I did, I got the card. Within a week, my dumb country ass bought a trans am on it, and with what I had left I put a monster stereo in the car....:) Long story short, my credit was fucked up for the next 7 years.

when you get the credit card tell them to put down on the account to not raise the limit unless they get authorization from you. Works unless you have some dumbass company.

It's not like I have a bunch of credit cards (I freaking hate them period). But I may just have to call and do this for the card used as the gas card. Fucking eh, I ain't feeling up 18wheelers.

I was on the phone for almost a hour today trying to make a payment over the phone because their damn online service is having glitches right now.... What kind of fucking glitch is it because i had to go through the same shit last month

I personally love credit cards. I get cash back on my citi card so they are basically paying me to use their card. Literally. I got a check for like $300 last month.
That does sound like a bunch of crap though mike.

Yeah all credit cards do that when you have good credit and stay near the top of your limit. They will always keep upping it. You can call them and have them lock it at a certain amount like the above said.
I have used my credit card 1x in the past year. I hate using the thing. if the money isn't in my checking account it isn't getting spent unless an emergency.

Huh:think: I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I'm never anywhere near the top of the limit. The ending balance is always -1.00 or more. They owe me a dollar back because I've overpaid:nod: That's the way I like to keep it.
Yet, they continue to increase the limit:think:

I very seriously doubt I use a credit card enough to deserve a penny or two back. If I did have the money to spend, I'd for sure be spending it on a black card though. You gotta spend what, 100+k a year on your card to keep it??

Sorry, what I was trying to get across is when you use the card every month if you get near the limit let say you have a 500 dollar card and every month you spend 400 (and pay it off fully). They most often up your credit limit than because they figure one day you might need more than the 100 extra you have, and thus fucking you into things you can't pay off lol. Does that make more sense?
They know you can pay off the 400 every month on the 500 dollar card, but are hoping that by upping the 500 card to a 1000 limit they can get you towards that 1k limit so you can't pay it off and pay them interest.

Exactly my point, except now the limit is a many g's when all I asked for was a few hundred... If my wife found out, lord help me, lol... No real biggie as she's responsible as well; but since I'm a debit man (no cash no credit just take what's in my checking account;) )I simply never realized they'd just keep increasing your limit w/o your consent hoping all along that you're not responsible. Pretty grimey if you ask me.

Capitol One is the worst. After cutting mine into a thousand pieces and paying it off ( or so I thought ). I got a bill a month later for like $25 or something for some BS fees & stuff. After raisng hell with them for 30mins I did a payment over the phone that was supposed to pay it off . Well, the next month I got a bill for someting like $3.25. So I sent them a check in the mail for $20 with FUCK YOU wrote in the " for " section at the bottom of the check. I did get a refund check from them for over payment, but it wasn't for the amount of what it should have been if you subtracted $3.25 from $20.

the black card doesn't have a low end spend limit but usually you have to spend 30k a month to get any of the benefits out of it.
the pops says its just a easier way for them to track you movements

Uhm, that sounds like a huge problem bud. My wife would love for you to open those back up so she could show you how to enjoy life for a little while. Of course; We'll both let you pay the balances back off all by your lonesome:nod:

That is weird the way that works, I did a credit report about 6 months back and was showing two discover cards on there from 2002 that I have never heard of or seen! They had never been used or activated. I called and bitched at them and had them closed. The follow up report I got just a few weeks ago had already jumped 60 points from just closing those two credit cards and one that I used for gas years ago until they stopped rewards system. The only cards I own now are the Bank of America card I've had since I was 16 and the Mastercard Carnival card that will have me a free cruise here shortly! :)

The report I got had tips at the bottom on how to bring your score up. One of them was to lower my amount of open credit accounts. So I went from the 5 open credit cards to just the two I've had the longest. One I use for just about everything for the low interest and great rewards program. The other I just use every so often to keep it active.

If you have active cc accounts it will lower your score if you close the account.
Also, the cc companies uping your credit limit isnt a bad thing either. Just b/c its there doesnt mean you have to use it. Part of your credit score is based on your available credit/credit used ratio.
ie. its much better to have $1000 on a card with a $10,000 limit than it is to have $1000 on a $2,000 limit
As far as the payments and payoffs go, the cc companies are in a bind (believe it or not) b/c of the amount of defaults they are having to eat right now. Thats why the "dirty" antics are on the increase (such as sending you a bill 2-3 days before the due date, etc.)

What he said.
Also, if you need a low limit b/c you can't trust yourself not to go on a spending spree, maybe you shouldn't have the card at all. Not aimed at anyone in particular, just sayin'...

I use my cards all the time for business. I think I have about 120K on them right now. Usually put about 50-80K per month on them. Gives me quite a few rewards.
