last 6 months i have been approached 6-7 times either at the bank, auto parts place, getting lunch, etc. with always 2 men in a van that have just done a audio system install and have extra speakers or extra box or radio and try to sell them to me. then when i say not interested they get right pissed

also have had 2 different guys try to sell me "real" rolex watches in the last month.

obviously this stuff is stolen. should i report this kind of stuff?

The speakers aren't really stolen. That is their sales pitch......they go around hauling these speakers in the van, and since the speaker boxes are so huge.......people see it as big money......and when they tell them how much (like $100 each I think)....the instinct people are all over it. They usually say their boss ordered too many, or the speakers they have were shipped extra and their boss told them to sell them for $100 each or whatever. Just a plan to sucker you in to a "good deal".

Some of the morons I work with bought a few of them, and seem to be happy with them. I can imagine if you have a stereo system in your house from the 90's..........you probably don't have the equipment to need a high dollar speaker setup anyways.......so they probably won't sound bad. Put an amp to those bad boys and I guarantee you that magic smoke will appear.....

Edit: Couldn't find my story........I'll wing it best I can, since it was 2-3 years ago

I was eating lunch at Jason's Deli in New Hope Commons a couple years ago with some co-workers. There was 5 of us in a 2004 Silverado HD Duramax (with some 33" tires and a lift)........well we got done eating lunch and decided to do some milf hunting around Wal Mart and Old Navy. We were circling around Wal Mart, when I saw the white van/speaker scheme going down in the parking lot. I told Mike to go by them.........and right as we went by Mike slowed down.....and I yelled "don't fall for their stupid sales pitch, they are cheap fucking speakers!!!!!". Both the guys looked PISSED......staring at us as we were all laughing our asses off. We continued our milf hunt.....and finally turned up by Old Navy to get back out to 15-501. About 50 feet from the exit of the parking lot, that white van came flying up towards us......and they pretty much stopped in front of the truck. They were obviously pissed I fudged their sale.........and we were pretty sure they thought they were gonna get revenge on us for yelling that across the parking lot. I don't think they realized there was 5 of us in the truck.......there were just two of them. Not to mention, they looked like they had been strung out on coke or heroin for a couple years (skinny bastards). They didn't even get out of the van once they realized they were greatly out numbered. We pulled up next to them, and they asked us if we wanted to buy some speakers. I said "fuck no man, get out of here with your scheming asses and shitty speakers, noone wants that shit". They both said "ok" kind of hesistantly, and barked A tire and sped off out of the parking lot. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I hate the asshats in a tiny pickup going door to door selling steaks. Last one wanted to fight me when I said I didn't buy food out of a truck. His reply was "where do you think Food Lion gets their food?" I'd say report them if nothing more than to inconvenience them, and hopefully to find out the shit is stolen.

I also hate the Jehovah's Witness that now come around at least monthly. Now they are employing some rather -good- looking young blondes to go around on Sunday mornings. For whatever reason they now pass out their literature upside down. I guess they believe in that faith enough to go door-to-door, but yet remained ashamed enough to pass them out with the title face-down???

That speaker scam is elaborate..They even have a website they tell you to go to that shows the same speakers 'selling' for like 800.00.

Havent had the fake Rolex sales pitch yet. But I have had guys in vans approach me ATLEAST a half doen times or more trying to get me to buy speakers. Its damn sure not limited to any particular area either. Ive had it happen all over. Capital blvd, Gleenwood ave, 40/42, even in Rocky Mount once last summer.

Don't worry, I bet 75% of the people approached call 911, ask me how I know... Yeah, I'm a little annoyed by these fuckers

When I still had my H2, they hit me up ALL the time. Sometimes I'd pull out a large wad of cash, and then stick it back in my pocket and say well let me see what you got. After they pulled em out the boxes and shit showing off their awesome deal, "since too many got loaded on the truck, and they already finished all the houses they have for the day," I'd say you know, I'm not really interested but thanks anyways:D

I just like to see those fuckers do some work, and work they will do when they think they have a sale. I've also used the "I'm broke" line a few times. Their reply was always, but man you in a Hummer, in which I would reply - "You try filling this bitch up every other day, you'd be broke too, lolz."

Have fun w/ them or tell them to get the hell on. Either way, I wouldn't give them my hard earned money...

I'd get annoyed too, I bet most of the time after you're done with the call, the Kremery has already turned off the Fresh Hot Now sign. :lmao:

Never been approached by these guys, but we have had the ones with a truck and the story about over-bought new furniture that they just HAVE to get rid of for a steal that have ridden through the 'hood a few times.

I had a couple of guys approach me once....in a tractor trailer....in front of my house. Pitch was "were returning from a big furniture show in Virginia. We rather sell this stuff we took up for the show rather than unload and restock it, so were practically giving it away." Hmmm, lets see. You driving a 18 wheeler back from Virginia to wherever, and you decide to pull into my cul-de-sac in my little neighborhood off of 87. Riiiiiiiiight

had the guys in the van come up to me when I just finished pumping gas and was about to leave. They gave me the "they shipped us extra, and our boss told us to get rid of it cheap". They wouldn't shut up, and all I wanted to do was leave. As I left I saw them go to the next person over. I can't remember what they were selling ( I think home theater system/surround sound) and they said it was better than a BOSE system. I just laughed.

My ex got a box with neons around the speakers that were supposed to light up & pulse with the music (out of said van) .. Yeah they hit decent .. and then caught the the carpet in his Tacoma on fire.

All in all a good $150 spent, I'd say.

i get that shit all the time when i'm around crossroads in cary. they target people like us with nice cars and trucks because they think we have a bunch of extra cash and are stupid enought to buy that crap. they always tell me how much they "like my ride" before they give me the pitch.

MAN i am so relieved its not just happening to me.

both times ive been offered a Rolex the person driving the first time was a 1-2 year old mercedez 500. the second time was on glenwood and the guy was in a brand new 740 bimmer. i guess they have stepped up from white vans and speakers. both times the rolex's were in HUGE plain boxes with some kind of title and vin number. both times $400

I've had the guy selling steak out of the back of the pickup, not had the speaker selling guys yet. Had someone else approach me at a gas station in VIRGINIA no less and got to talking and said that they just HAPPENED to have some jobs where I'm from (never told him where I was from) and just told the guy not interested in walked off LOL

Easiest thing I found when you catch that it's one of these guys is instead of BSing with them and trying to be polite just say you aren't interested and walk off without saying anything else to them.

Print up some fake money, and keep it in the glovebox for such an occasion. So what if it is a felony, why not scam the scammers? Better yet pull a gun on them and take their cash, the van and leave them the speakers.

Never had the speaker thing, but I've been approached several times by gangster wannabe's selling cologne at a gas station. Who the fuck is going to go for gas and say "You know, I could use some cologne now that you mention it."

This happened to us not long ago over on Capital. My brother in law and I were approached and we laughed. We got 2 pairs of the shit speakers, for free. Next time you get approached, just take them from the fucks - don't be a pussy and report them. They won't do shit and they only carry knives.

We were approached not long ago by some girl and guy selling knockoff perfumes, while we were trying to eat no less. I politely told her I didn't care for Designer Imposters bs perfumes...but it's definitely annoying. They were supposed to be the "same product, just in different packaging due to manufacturer's restrictions."

A friend of mine in college bought some for $150. When we got them home they wouldn't work, so we opened the case. There were two big rocks duct taped inside of them, no speakers at all. :fail:

same thing happened to my dad about 20 years ago, back when the Hi-fi VHS players came out, guy had a whole truck full, everything still in factory sealed boxes, and stickers that say, do not buy if seal is broken. He said he looked over the boxes real good, and bought one, got home and there were two and half bricks all package and placed nicely inside . he said he couldn't understand how b/c of all the boxing tape and everything.

I've been approached twice by those guys, but the last time was probably back in 2001 or so.

Someone I know pretty well took the bait hook, line, and sinker back in the summer of 2006. Paid around $400 for the shit speakers. After he found out, he told me those types had better pray they don't make the mistake of approaching him again.

BOSE should not be too hard to beat. :keke:

But yeah, crappy speakers...from the trucks and BOSE. BOSE sure does have a great marketing department.:watch:

That shit is funny. I heard about a guy that thought he was buying a flat panel TV and when he got it home, it was the front to an oven. Yall got some ballin bums around where yall are at. I have had nothing but, "My car is broken down and I need some money to get home to Raleigh/Goldsboro/Jacksonville/place your city here_________. " I actually get kind of pissed at them and yell, they tend to go away.

This is too funny, I hadn't seen these guys since college(like 6 years ago), but I saw them at the gas station yesterday. White Ford van and when they opened the side door it was a giant speaker rack, literally. They even had them playing, didn't sound bad, though.
