I'll ask before everyone else does.
What kind of budget do you have? This will dictate what you can buy vs. the performance that you want.

Looking to spend a few hundred. I know someone was going to was that and I'll have a better idea later on but right now a few hundred to spend on a good camera. Just looking for something that would be good and also have all the do dad's.

...Aubrey you already met her, remember the "cookout, state trooper, parking deck" 30 roll? But I'll post later anyway

Few hundred will get you old technology on the used market. I'm only assuming that she'd prefer a SLR (interchangeable lenses) vs. a point & hope camera. Sounds like she's more serious than most, so I would certainly recommend the SLR over a point n' hope. For ~$300, a used 10d or Digital Rebel. Shop hard and you may be able to get a lens along w/ the body for that, otherwise budget another ~$75-100 for a decent lens to go along with it.

The sky is the limit ;) Will be using it mostly for still things (portraits, landscapes, etc?), if she foresees extensive use in low-light indoor work, things like that.
A budget of 5-700 will get a solid setup for general use. That's not to say it can't be done for less, but going too cheap will make more work.

Thanks guys I'm going to be looking around what brands should I look at and should I stay away from?
from the thousands of amazing pictures she has taken here's a couple it was hard to pick which ones, but this is what she's into. Indoor, outdoor, photoshoping, people, improv., I've seen ti all from her. All pictures were taken my Samantha Filipowski from here Kodak i believe

She defentialy wants an SLR and an EOS camera, and prefers Canon's.
She told me she was looking at a Canon Rebel XTI, and cameras along those lines. She is still looking into them, and learning.
and she wants "one that i can attach insane lenses to" as she says
I'm trying to learn too so what exactly are EOS/ SLR cameras?

There's a decent used 10D @ Peace Camera right now. Could be had for $300's if you talk to Jeff the right way. There is also (imho) a better 20D for $500. For $50 more or so, you could get a newer xTI with a larger screen and a smaller body more likely to be suited to her hands. Just a heads up.
SLR = single lens reflex camera
The body is nothing more than an overhyped computer/image processor with the ability to interchange lenses. The damn things get antiquated and outdated within 1-2 years. Seriously. Good lenses are where it's at. L, to be exact.

i just got a nikon d300 and a 22-200 lens with internal stabilization..
i freakin LOVE it.. this camera takes amazing pictures, has more features than i know how to use, yet the settings you need to adjust on the fly are easy to access.. plus it takes like 8 shots a second on auto mode or something rediculous like that..
but a d300 might be alittle pricey for your market..
