Someone came in my fence last Thursday or Friday and stole an old trashcan that I used for working in the yard. They didn't take any of the scrap metal I had around it, or the Camaro Rally wheels, or even the good a-arms I had sitting out there. But they moved some stuff out of the way and stole a busted up trash can. They left the square one, but took the round one. Also left the city-issued one, too.

I live at the end of a cul-de-sac in a quiet neighborhood up in North Raleigh, so it is very weird.

The strange thing is that they had to come through the gate in front of the house where everyone could see them. My back gate I sealed shut and the front gate was unlatched on Friday when I got home.

No papers or old mail in it? I ask because people steal trash cans for documents to steal you identity. May not be the case in you instance, but something to be aware of.

Nah, I've been in the house almost three years and I've only used that trashcan for yard waste. About the only thing they'll get from that can is my dog's DNA. :fail:

If you got kids in the neighborhood, check your neighbors yards for it.

Rusted car parts=scrap metal lol. If it was full they probably couldn't fit some wheels in it and didn't think of the A-arms. Not sure how much the scrapyard pays for dog shit, though.

Sounds like somebody just needed a trash can and was to cheap or broke to buy one. I would rule out they the fact that they may have been looking for something more valuable and didn't find it either. Could have been looking for worth while goodies and when he didn't find any just took the can because he needed one and was already their anyway.

My neighbor behind me had about 6 round trashcans filled with leaves by the road yesterday. I don't remember what mine looked like, but who had 6 round trashcans at their disposal.
