Great bike, just down on power. I like Hpierce said, I had a 1200. I took a stock XB9R for a quick ride down the street, and it definately lacked some of the low end grunt the 1200 had. On the other hand, some Buell guys prefer the 900 after an exhaust, air filter, and tune because it revs to 7500 vs 6800. They say that the mods really wake it up. Mine was the most comfortable sport bike I've ever ridden, the riding position is a little more relaxed and upright. Mine never gave me any problems during the 8000 miles that I had it. They're very cheap to maintain and easy to work on (air cooled engine). The bike vibrates a lot compared to I-4's. A couple of my friends said it bothered them, but it didn't bother me one bit. I actually liked the shaking of the bike at idle, much like a big cam will make a car shake. They're fun bikes and with an exhaust, they definately catch people's attention.

Thanks for the info.
Ive been reading Google search on the bike and they claim its quicker than the Ducati 900. Quicker than a R6 up to 120mph.
They say power isnt huge but the bike is so light it makes up for it??
Its a 2002 with less than 10K miles. What should it be 'worth"?

my buddy loved the idea of the bike and everything he read/saw on them...he then test drove one and said it was like the worst bike he had been on for what it was...NO power.
Of course, I have heard that they have made improvements on the new ones

They're definitely not quicker than an R6, and I don't think they're that light. I think the wet weight of an XB12R is around 420 lbs. Not a porker, but not a featherweight. True, the lack of power is the biggest downside of the bike. Definitely take it for a test ride and see how you like it. Also, 2003 was the 1st year of the XB platform. ;)

I dont have any problems pulling a 600 I4 with mine on the low end. I do however have exhaust, intake, and a tune. I also have the CityX but its virtually the same bike. Best I like about it, it is extremely nimble and fun to ride. Tons more comfortable than the much more aggressive rider position of the crotch rockets.

He claims the title says its a 2002 :idunno:
Im going out tomorrow to check it out. Raining this evening.
Is $2000 a good price on it? Trying to get it for $1500 but he doesnt wanna come down that far it seems.

Well depends on miles and condition obviously. Give you a rough idea my XB9SX is worth about 4200 trade in with 18k and its a 2005 in excellent shape.
