Well, the time has come. Been smokin' for way to long. Started when I was ~15 and lived overseas. 32 now and getting back into running and boxing. I used to be able to run fine even though I smoked, but I guess 'ol man time catches up with ya!

Wish me luck guys :)

i started smoking when i was 15 years old. i'm 29 now and as of the 23rd of this month, it will be 1 year and 10 months since i quit. i just put my mind to it and stuck with it finally after several unsuccessful attempts. i feel so much better and i really understand what everyone talks about when they complain of the smell a cigarette gives you and your clothes.

good luck to ya. with enough willpower and patience, you can make this happen. again, good luck to ya.

Good luck!

Try doing like 5 pushups everytime you feel the urge to smoke. This way your body will release natural endorphins from the exercise to make you feel better and fight the urge.

Good luck! Smartest decision you'll ever make. The first week is the hardest, so stay strong. You going cold turkey or trying a patch or something?

Thank guys. Yeah, I got a perscription for zyban and the patches all lined up. Took the first zyban pill yesterday. I quit once before for about 3 months; my ex wanted to quit so I did it with her but my heart wasn't really in it so of course it didn't take. One thing I learned from the last time is that after I quit I can never have even one smoke again or I'm fucked. That's what got me off the wagon...one bummed smoke at a bar and BAM I was smoking again.

Thanks for the dip offer, but that's fucking nastier then smoking IMHO

You need to quit that shit too man!!

:werd:

I've played cards with guys all through school that would sit there spitting into empty drink bottles whenever they'd dip/chew, and that is by FAR the nastiest thing IMO.

Good luck with quitting man!

This week's going fast....gettin' nervous. Trying to line my schedule up for Sunday so I'm in places where I can't smoke. I have boxing from 2-4 and I'll prolly go see a movie that night. Any other ideas?

Hang in there! You can do it! If I can anyone can :) .

Be careful if you drink because the urges can really seem strong if you're drinking! Have a plan for how you're going to handle stress, too, like maybe have some of the gum lined up in case something super stressful happens :).

Goodluck! There are lots of rewards from quitting as you probably know. Saving money, feeling better, not smelling like smoke, food tastes better (but that can be a not so good thing . . .), cheaper rates on life and health insurance, smelling things you didn't beforel, not being anxious to get somewhere where you can smoke. . ..

Thanks for all the encouragement guys. Couple days now; body wants to smoke but mind has things firmly in hand :D

BTW, food tastes FUCKING GOOD when you don't smoke. Glad I can run longer with the lungs; I'm gonna need it.

Congrats thats awesome... I have never been addicted to smoking so i cant say i know what you are going through but i have seen both my parents smoke, my father finally quit after having a heart attack, that finally scared him enough to change. Wish i could get my mom to do the same. But just know your doing a good thing for yourself in the long run... Shit is gross to btw
