Matt,

I would not use Edwards machine, have has trouble with them. Try Roger
Lauter at Lauters machine shop on Wrightsville Ave.. he is a little slow but
does good work. Don't really know of any others.

Sorry, but I would not use either one of them.

Edwards is clean, but they only do marginal work, Lauter's is just freakin nasty.

I'm not a big fan of Chadwick's, but if you insist on doing yours locally that is who I would use.

Personally I use Edge Brother's out of Jacksonville.

as long as it's within 50 miles of wilmington I'm for it I just wanna know who does the best work not looking into prices as long as in everyone's opinion it the best bet for a clean set up as all I need is the block bored and the heads and intake ported and polished hoping to get to the 275-300 hp and torque range. with out totally frying the keep it as stock appearing as possible side of it.

I would not use chadwicks, had real bad luck there before! R&R in wilmington did a friend's heads, and they looked real good.

If your looking for cost and not quality, don't even bother calling Edge Brothers.

They are more about quality and not price...in other words they are not cheap.

I just need a shop who can port and polish heads and machine a motor so i can get to a 331 stroker with out any problems had a friend who was going to do it but I don't trust him to much to do it right. but any way another question what will the stock AOD handle the power out put i'm looking for or should I go ahead and have it rebuilt to better specs as it has to stay auto (long story).

I'm not an auto guy, but from what I've heard from the AOD guys, a V/B and a one piece input shaft makes those trannies very tough.

BTW I think Edge Brother's is one of the few machine shops locally that ports heads, and they also build quite a few 331's.

Edge Brothers for sure. Thats one thing I miss about Wilmington. I could trust them with anything.
