This is a given.
Over the years, the entire story has been beaten’ to death no matter how factual (Discovery Channel type stuff) or Hollywood inflated is has been. It seems now that’s either a competition of who can make the most gruesome or the scariest version of the same old shit. But this seems to be an ongoing trend in Hollywood for quite sometime anyway. I think the last two “new thoughts” type horror/terror/slasher scripts written and finally made into movies were “Saw” and “Hostel”.
Regardless, I am compelled, for whatever strange reason, to see this “version” of the same old shit. I just have too. But I will be getting it through my Netflix…………I hardly ever go to the movies anymore. They come to me. :)

You left out Shaun of the Dead and Slither.

I get Netflix too. It's the best thing since sliced bread.

Kelly and I saw it last night.
I thought the story-line was ok (the birth and why he does what he does).
However it didn't seem as good as the 1st remake last year.
Lots of bloody chainsaw stuff!
Ran into some HPJunkies there also. :)

So whats the truth behind this whole thing? Is it based on anything real in history or what? ANyone know the REAL history (if there is one) and where you can read about it and NOT about a movie?

ANyone know the REAL history (if there is one)and where you can read about it and NOT about a movie? No. It is not based on a story from texas but the character is based off an old serial killer named Ed Gein from the 40s 50s. Buffalo Bill from silence of the lambs was also based from this cat.
Check out this whacko.

I think it was The Discovery Channel that ran a 2 hour piece on Ed Gein a few years ago and how it tied into the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Be afraid, be very afraid. There are LOTS of fruits out there just like Ed and Buffalo Bill still today.

I would've liked to have seen that. We've seen the movie "Ed Gein"...pretty interesting and i think it was very accurate. So i would like to see how that tied into TCM though.
Ever watch that show "Most Evil"? Interesting.....but yea...makes you wonder about people out there now.

i thought it was better than the 2003 remake. alot more sinister and the extra gore helped it out, IMO.

IMO I think those of you who think this one was better than the remake with Jessica Biel are idiots. Thats just IMO though. There were actually a couple of parts which were humorous. I can quote without giving away anything.........the funniest quote was "Thats sloppy work Thomas, even him up!"
Like the other one, 2 hot girls, same basic story line......nothing much different. Only real difference was the beginning, which showed the birth and stuff like already stated. Take a somewhat interesting 10 minute history lesson, and add it to the remake with Jessica Biel.......with different characters. That was it.
On a scale of 1-10, I want my money back.
