85.5 944, with 130k, non running. Gonna do a restore, and then race the shit out of her. Wife even agreed with the purchase, saying the price was too good to pass up, and that she would get to drive it anytime she wanted to, and race it as well. My wife wants to race. HELL YEAH. Figure a good year or two before it is totally ready, as i am limiting myself to $200 a month in repairs or upgrades ( gotta get the NSX paid off) so it will be a good little project to mess with. Anyone else out there with P car experience? I had an 87 in 96, and loved it, so jumped at the chance for this one. Will be doing all of the work myself, with the excption of the timing and balance belt tension, as the tool is about $450.
0-60 in over 8 secs, and the quarter in about 16, according to the manual. Watch out all you turbo supra's.... :)

Cool. Is that a turbo or N/A model?

NA. The turbos are technically 951's and are still selling for pretty high (to me anyway) I can change out the front valance and add a rear thing to the bumper, and it'll look just like one. The turbos apparrently run pretty good, and can hang with a lot of stuff out there, even today. Probably jumped in over my head (mechanically) on this one, KNEW I didn't want to mess with FI. You FI guys are way too smart for me... :)

Thanks for the resize, board gods......
Slow cars, fast bikes... :) By the way, Jay, ever get that video on CD or anything? And after riding in Brian's, I'd tend to think about all cars are slow.... :) Yes I know I bugged you earlier.....
Stupid question, what is a 2JZ? I know there are several conversion kits out there to put an LT1 in it, kits are about $1500, not including motor. If the motor shits the bed, I am planning on going the 350 route, as the current motor is the interference kind, and if the belt breaks, as they are known to do without proper maintenance, the job starts at about $3500. :(
Having no service records after 1992 makes me wonder how bad the car has been mistreated. Oh well, at least options abound.

2JZ is the TT MKIV Supra powerplant. Even I knew that. :p

How about a Pro Mod motor? 6 second quarter mile times quick enough?

Well, since I am Slow and Hard to Anger, I guess I just learned something. :)
Now, I wonder if it would work??..... BC Supra's is the only one I have seen, and from what I remember, it looks a little big...just what I would need to snap every internal and external transmission and drive shaft part on the car :)
Hey Darren, when you gonna come get some of the NSX with your stang? I need a good ego boost, as everyone else around here talks smack about all my slow rides....

Haha that was good photochop.
As much as I hate to say it,.... *gasp*...Jon knows quite a bit about those cars, and I believe his Porsche had at least a chevy big block in it...he could swap motors in and out of that thing in no time flat.

I have some pics of a 944 with an LT1 swap that was in the shop a couple of weeks ago. I need to upload that to show you... it all fit, not sure how!
Congrats Tom, very cool, especially the RACE IT part!

Thanks all...
Boosted, been to the strip twice, ran low 10's in the quarter at about 135, and very low 7's in the eighth at about 110. I am 270lbs with full gear, and don't really know what I am doing. Wanted to get the bike on a road course, as my riding has improved a bunch in the last few years, but I bought her new, and can't bear the thought of tossing her down the road, at least not until the warranty runs out....My winter project was gonna be making my own fiberglass bodywork, but that has now been put on hold, per the '44's request.
Definitly upload the LT1 swap. I am assuming that since it was in the shop it was having problems? or just getting tuned? I am thinking this might be the way to go, after the wife gets tired of the slowness. Probably stay with stock until she learns to drive a bit better (terrifying in the passenger seat most of the time) and then go with the conversion. Plus the $$ aren't there at the get go....
How much are used LS1's going for these days? I am assuming there's a kit out there, and what would the price differential be to put an LT1 in and get it performing like an LS1?

Heck yeah Tom. That's awesome.
www.renegadehybrids.com makes a kit that has come a long way. I've heard it's pretty decent.
As you know I'm putting a 968 engine in my 944, and seeing how that is about half the cost of the lt1 swap (just the complete kit is $4,000), that's the way I'm going. Plus, Argento gets to keep a German heart.
If you end up wanting to look for a 968 engine of some sort, let me know I have a couple of connections I can hook you up with.
And if you want to come over when we are working to talk Porsches, it'd be nice -- all that is normally talked about is which is better, the LS1 or LT1. :) Jk
