I just saw Todd Tuesday afternoon he was hanging around Garner EMS, that's where I volunteer as an EMT. He was there taking to Allison which is one of my Lt. I just found out about this tragedy on this post. It's just such a big shock. I mean I don't even want to believe. Todd was also one of my instructors while I took my EMT course at Wake. He's daughters are very young I belive they were around 5 and 7. Keep Todd's family and all those afffected by this tragedy in your prayers and thoughts.

This is the the email my chief send this morning, I just read it wanted to share it.
TO: All Staff
REF: Todd Blanchard, EMT/Firefighter/Rescue Division
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is with great sadness that I report to you the death of Todd Blanchard. Todd has been an active member of our Rescue Division for the past several months and was engaged to marry Allison Miller, Garner EMS A-Shift Lieutenant.
At approximately 0100 hours, July 13, 2005, while working in the capacity of Firefighter for Eastern Wake Fire Department, Todd was fighting a fire and was struck by a tree. He was transported to Wake Medical Center by Eastern Wake EMS Paramedics Sammy Mangum, Eddie Ross, and Bob Blackford. As a result of his fatal injuries, Todd was pronounced dead at 0220 hours. The staff of EWEMS and Wake Medical Center performed resuscitation efforts far beyond the call of duty.
Please keep Todd's family, friends, and Allison in your prayers and thoughts. The next few days will be tough for everyone, but with God's help we will all get through it.
In Public Safety we never know when we leave for work every day if we will make it back home safe. Thank you for all that you do, the time you spend away from family and friends, and for all the times you put your life in danger to save another person. God bless you all.
I will update everyone on funeral arrangements as information becomes available.
