I'm sure some of you guys are like me and start making lists of mods to make your car "complete". Well, here is mine....
Kaaz high strength gearset for Subaru WRX
1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears are straight-cut gear profiles which eliminates thrust forces and provides maximum gear strength on the gears that are particularly prone to failure. 4th and 5th gears use a bevel design for minimal gear whine in the "cruising" gears. Kaaz uses a high strength steel alloy which undergoes special heat treatment and stress relieving processes. The end result is a gearset capable of reliably handling power outputs in excess of 500hp.
Stock Ratios:
3.454 (too short)
1.947
1.366
0.972 (too long)
0.738 (waaaay too long, just for highway cruising)
Kazz Ratios:
3.167 (just right)
2.267
1.667
1.250
0.964 (too short for highway cruisng, but who gives a shit?)
It's only $3200....
Now that the tranny is out of the way, lets make some more power. First, my stupid TMIC has got to go. Lets replace it with....
The APS FMIC (http://www.airpowersystems.com.au/wrx/my01/fmic/my02_fmic/aps_wrx_fmi_03.htm)
It's only $1500.... :p
Now I need more fuel, so a set of 800cc injectors will be needed. Those only cost $600.00
Now to my new turbo...
The FP3065 (http://www.forcedperformance.net/dsm_turbo_fp30.htm)
That turbo should be good for over 500whp without nitrous for about $1100.
Dyno Graph here (http://www.forcedperformance.net/images/dyno/fp30.gif)
But wait, I'm sure by then I'll want some better cams and some headwork that will allow me to rev to 8.5k so I better get this done...
Cobb Stage 3 heads (http://cobbtuning.com/wrx/enginehead3.html)
They want $5350 for that, but I know someone who can do it for a mere $3100 including cams. ;)
For $9500 I think I would be semi content with the strait line performance of the car at that point. Then the suspension and brake tweaking begins.... :p
