so im really tight on money right now and i decided to go home on my fall break. i used my debit card to pay for gas and a coffee on the way home. that ngiht i looked at my balance at the atm and it said i had a lil over $20.00 left. so i took out the 20 and deposited 2 the next day so incase it decided to charge me extra there would be a lil bit left in there. now my banks being fuckin retarded and has put me in the negative. im so confused as to how i got in the negative. hopefully my parents can put some money in there to get me out of it but theyre not gonna like doing that. but you can be sure i will be at ccb next week trying to straighten this situation out. i didnt know i was overdrafting because the fuckin ATM told me i had money. i did an inquiery before i did a withdrawl. screw banks!

it's not the bank's fault you spent more than you had...ever try keeping track of your money in the little booklet that comes with your checkbook?

msmoney is your friend.. Just because your ATM slip says you still have money doesn't mean you do.. It just means other things you have may have charged haven't yet cleared..

whats really pissin me off is that the ccb online shit has everything out of order so i cant figure out where i screwed up. and i dont use my check book because everywhere i use my debit card theres always some gay charge that goes along wiht it.
as for being responsible with money... i normally am. its just hard with my situation at the moment and the fact that i cant have a job until certain things are taken care of.

Did you get that $20 from a CCB teller? Or another? If you use a teller machine other than your own banks......they typically charge you at least a $1.50 charge, and most banks charge you another $1.50 on top of that for not using their ATM's. I have been through that shit before.

most banks have a minimum amount that you can't go below or else they'll charge you a fee. if you only had a couple bucks in there, thats probably why. sounds like you got owned by the small print......

Another hint that I learned the hardway too.. If you card is like mine which is debit/credit. Use it as a credit card, sure you have to sign something but at least with my back Wachovia (Walk all over ya) they only charge you for using your card as a debit card and not as a credit card even though you still have to have money in the bank to use it as either. Also try to use ATMs that are your own bank's as Darren said.

i do use the ccb atm most of the time but i didnt know where one was at so i used cashpoints... but i think it will get taken care of tomorrow. hopefully. im not really pissed that i over drafted becasue that is my own fault. its the fact that the atm gave me the wrong balance. it wasnt becausee stuff just hadnt posted, it was just a random number. because of that i overdrew. but hey you live and learn
